With the release of Season 9 next Tuesday, the team and I wanted to give you all a heads up on some Foundry-related items:
1) At the time Season 9 releases, the editing tool for the Foundry will be disabled as previous missions are republished -- we expect this editing downtime to last only a short while. Republishing will be an automatic process. The ability to play missions will remain available.
2) When we do bring up the editor, the ability to review will be temporarily disabled.
Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing all of your amazing missions built during Season 9 and beyond.
And if there is anything I can stress to my fellow authors, it's be patient. It will probably be two to three weeks minimum before we'll get back editing.
Meh, don't care this time. It's finals and I'm behind anyway.

I have real-life stuff going on that would slow down my development efforts anyway. Hopefully that'll be out of the way by the time the editor comes back.
I'm at least hopeful to get one more map of my latest mission into a playable state and somewhat polished before the Foundry goes down.
Tip for authors: if you are wanting to make the most of the editor downtime, I'd suggest writing as much of your story out as you can. I use Celtx, a scriptwriting program, to write out my dialogue and story, and then C+P it into the editor.
I have or had a free slot, I dont know if I still do or not but I couldn't figure that thing out it was quite complicated in my opinion, best left for somebody with skills.

Will have to check that out. Another thing I decided to do while Holodeck Foundry is down is go on Tribble - assuming it's left up - and create new faces for all my characters, to take advantage of the new heads and complexions. Then I'll take the usual slider screenshots so they're ready to port over when Holodeck editor comes back.
I realize that the foundry editor is down but I can't see the missions I published. When the editor is back up will I have the same access as a FTP player. And what about the unpublished missions are they gone?

Missions have to get auto-republished every time there's a season update, and Cryptic also leaves reviewing turned off for a few weeks to give us a chance to fix update-induced bugs.

You won't lose anything. As others have said the editor is simply turned off while the missions go through an automatic republish. Anything you were working on will still be there, published and unpublished. Keep checking to see if your missions come up. As Ashkrik said we're already seeing some come back. I urge everyone to check their missions as they come back up and report any issue.
And of course don't panic if your mission doesn't show up right away. This takes time and sometimes missions don't auto republish. Once the editor is opened again, you'll be able to go in and republish your mission manually.

Unless, of course, one of your maps gets borked or some other bug is introduced that causes one or more action items to come up in the editor, preventing you from republishing (as happened to me, Duke-of-Rock and anyone else who used the Ice Caves Interior 03 map when LoR dropped).

Drogyn and I skimmed through the maps on tribble and everything looked about the right size.

If I recall anything from past seasons, your unpublished missions will be safe and not deleted. However, be ready to make changes as it will more than likely be seriously bugged and unpublishable.
As I posted here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=16690871&postcount=21, this is due to the issue of interacts on ESD not working until a manual republish is done. Our full republish did not fix that issue as far as I can tell. I expect it's the act of opening the project in the editor that updates it from the old ESD to the new one.
We're looking into a software fix for this, especially for Featured missions. We're keeping reviews off until we can get the ESD interact issue fully addressed.
That's all I have at this time. I'll let you folks know if/when I get more information.
