My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
Well, it certainly sums up the OP accurately, if nothing else.

Let's not drag this out for the people who don't follow him on twitter. Branflakes is working at red 5 studios as the cm for the upcoming shooter firefall.

I just visited the Firefall forum. Like he never did anything else.

Red 5 Studios is located in Laguna Hills, which is in Southern California. This doesn't really clash with his reasons for leaving PWE.
His family is nearby, he doesn't have to make trips back and forth from Redwood City.
It wasn't jet-TRIBBLE enough, no. There wasn't an aerial element to Firefall like there was in Tribes. The weapons I ended up using lacked the 'wow!' factor I demand out of a sci-fi shooter game. I found the UI to be extremely confusing, I found the jargon they were using too confusing (which isn't unusual when it comes to a brand new IP), and honestly the world is way too big for its purpose.
You either run into an area where several players already have things under control and it becomes boring, or you go into an area where it's just you and only you and you can't handle things.
I also found it way too cartoony, like Champions Online or WoW. I like more realism, like STO or EvE Online.
But it's still in beta, and I do wish the game succeeds. It's an interesting concept.

Nice of somebody to actually explain it. Subtlety's one thing; the OP was downright encrypted.

I know what your talking about. I didn't mind the "cartooniness" (I play TF2 after all) but yeah there isn't a whole lot of aerial stuff you can do. The rocket boots are cool and all, but they're more like a jump extension than the flight mechanic that tribes had.

Fixed it for you
shhhh... The forum crowds don't need to know the real truth.
I just visited the Firefall forum. Like he never did anything else.
I looked at the game. Well...

So, Brandon has another job. Good on him.
I played a very long time ago. I wanted a spiritual successor to Tribes, but honestly it left me wanting.
It wasn't really jet-TRIBBLE enough wasn't it?

Or at least that's how I felt.
