General poor perfomance on new ESD

phoeniciusphoenicius Member Posts: 762 Arc User
Seriously, new season is cool and all, but this update made me realize just how MUCH cryptic needs to optimize their HUD UI.

Putting everything in graphics to the lowest setting gives me 10-15 fps at most in comparison to the highest in new ESD(doesn't make any sense to have so little gain), whereas simply turning down the HUD gives me 40-50+ FPS lol on new ESD, and around 25-30 outside it, i don't get why new ESD benefits so much from turning down the HUD.

New undine battlezone is also a stutter fest when there are 20 ships plus fighters/shuttles/etc shooting another 20 undine ships/planet killer in sight.

Its still playable of course, but could be so much better, i have seen a lot of people complaining about the same things on ESD too.

Also oddly enough, i was getting a slightly better performance on tribble in comparison to holodeck, despite having to put shadows on low due to some weird bug with them.

what are your thoughts people?

Whenever I press Esc my framerate raises by like 30, what's up with that?

What I want to know is, How do I fix the blurryness???

Before, I had everything nice and crisp! Then, they had a forced-upon-us graphic reset. Now, the best I can get out of the game is like... having glaucoma or something. If you zoom right in on something, it's not so bad, but hey, we're supposed to be in SPACE.... everything is MILES AWAY. And besides, my main now looks like he's a strung out meth addict or something. Gonna have to go do something about those dark circles under his eyes.

I've wasted like 2 hours just tinkering with various combinations in the graphics settings. If I find something that gets me back to my former glorious crispness, I will put it on the forums somewhere. That's like 2 hours of missions and Doffing I've missed out on. And that includes the new content.

HOW DO WE FIX THE BLURRYNESS? If this isn't resolved, soon, I'm moving on to a different game. And yes, it's everywhere. And no, asking for help in different channels gets zero response. It's like everyone is just wandering aimlessly around in a (literal) blurry haze, man.

Yeah, this mission has big performance issues for me. It's almost unplayable.

Change your resolution scaling to 1 in the Display options.

that is because when you press Esc, the HUD UI "shuts down" , seriously this HUD needs some serious optimization.

you probably have half-resolution turned on, turn it off.

I've experienced thos problems too, At fist i tought it was an issue with my conection, but this is happening mainly at ESD and the battlezone, leaving the game almost unplayable.

Sometimes this still happens somewhere else, but never as bad

Greyhame3 and Phoenicius... Finally, someone actually helpful. GOD it makes all the difference. Now I might actually want to play my new KDF Trill toon. She is sadly in need of attention, flying around in a poorly equipped Vandal lol.

Thanks again you guys... keep on Trekkin :)

Out of curiosity, are any of you who are experiencing problems running DirectX 11-capable video cards? Prior to the update, I ran STO in DX11 and didn't have any problems. Following it, I had to switch to DX9 in order to get my framerate back to where it used to be.

dude, you're using a video card that is essentially an overclocked HD 7870 with special cooling , of course it will run well.

still STO isn't supposed to run badly on older video cards(i'm using an overclocked HD 5770 btw), STO isn't a brand new game, the fact that simply turning off the HUD gives such a huge FPS boost, is an example of that.

also i bet that your video card would be able to get clocked 60 FPS at all times, even during the undine fight if the HUD wasn't hogging resources, try turning off your HUD and check the FPS afterwards, i bet you'll get 60+.
