should I get Andorian Pack

Since it was my birthday a few days ago I want to treat myself to a nice ship or pack.

I own the HEC already and am not that happy with it, and am searching for something new. I play tac though and generally die from being to close to explosions (haha) also I already use phasers.

Is the Adorian ship pack worth it? and what would be the best build bor it?

    I won't go into builds, but the Andorian Escorts tend to gravitate to these very general characteristics:

    Extremely hard hitting. 1 version has 5 forward weapons with 5 TAC Console slots... the most forward firepower in the game.

    Maneuverable. Handles wonderfully.

    I hope you like Phasers.

    Bad survivability for a number of players. I have no issue with it, even the Kumari with its dangerously low levels of ENG & SCI stations. But for others, they can pop real quick.

    In short, if you like flying fast, hitting hard like no other, and do not mind to die in a blaze of glory, the Andorian Escorts are a good ticket ;)

    As I said I die in explosion (close to warp cores going off) and I also use phasers already.

    Here is another point of view; do you like the way they look? If yes, then go for it :) It's your birthday!!

    As for builds, using the search function will help a lot. I did one search using "Andorian" in the Fed Shipyard forum and came up with this: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1053871&highlight=Andorian

    The OP doesn't really ask about builds, but the first page starts talking about them. That may be a decent place to start, then search by some other value ... like Kumari. Don't forget to look in the "Builds" forum a little further below.

    Escorts live & die with this rule. The MVAE, Defiant, Andorian Escorts far more than the others.

    Very easy fix for that, regardless of what ship you're using. Keep moving, man! Fly through the burning wreckage like it's a movie! Keep going!

    Can be a powerful ship. Part of it is if you want the set versus just the single ship, since I don't know of many people who dig the wing cannons or consoles but there is something to be said for being able to change your console layout.

    I love my Kumari, but be aware:

    It is most assuredly a glass ship, you WILL go boom... alot...

    It is tac, all tac and almost nothing but tac... I run mine 4 tac 1 eng BOFFs, currently running about 12k DPS, spikes into the high 20s.

    You do NOT need to love phasers, I run 4x plasma dual beams, plus Hyperplasma torp forward and KCB and 1 Plasma turret aft, with A2B and BFAW, once i got used to it it did much better than cannons even with the overload.

    Getting the pack depends on a few things.
    1. Do you know which version you want to go with? (I made the mistake of buying just the charal, then realized I wanted the Kumari, which i bought 3 days later)
    2. Do you REALLY want to use all 3 consoles?

    That being said, I love the Kumari. Just an amazing ship. Not as big a glass cannon as some will have you believe. It's all in how you fly it.
    Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

    The Khyzon and Charal in particular can run the same setup as the fairly tough Patrol Escort, though the Kumari itself needs a little more care to keep it alive due to the extremely Tac-heavy seating.

    However, if you can't survive in an Armitage, any of the Kumari variants will feel even more fragile.

    On the other hand, if you usually die from the blast of another ship's warp core explosion, there's a simple solution: don't stay near an exploding ship.

    These gemmick consoles suck. Not worth the slots.

    Kumari is worth getting, just because it's the highest dmg escort in game. Nothing else, including fleet defiant, can match the dmg. What it can do, nothing else can do just as well or better.

    The other 2 variants aren't. What they can do, another ship, such as the escort carrier that you already own, can do better, so there's no point.

    Actually, I prefer the Charel for increased survivability; I like it better than the HEC. But noblet is right, if you want the full Kumari experience, get the Kumari.

    Actually I consider the Charal to be the only one worth getting. The Kumari has a pretty bad over-tac seating and lacks everything else in return. Only the tac console slot is worth a look and.... well... thats not worth the price.

    Other then that I agree. The consoles suck far more then any other set I own.

    I still would take bets that the Andorian linei set was designed with a universal LC slot in mind, which then probably was removed last minute.
    Thats the only thing that would explain that only one of the 3 is even USABLE.
    Seriously 4 sci consoles but just one lt sci bo? Cmdr, LC and LT tac? Who would make something like that up?

    I don't see a point in 3 torpedo buffs.
    Also the TSS weapons is pointless, the cutting beam isn't effected by beam buffs (unless some changes I don't know about happened)

    Better use another Attack pattern and another cannon buff.
