Do anyone know any good STO alternatives that kinda have the feel of STO but has both exploration and engineering aspect. Throw in some combat.
I logged in for 5 mins and checked my two fleets. After checking all my stats and realizing I will be Nerfed permanently especially with the reputation system. I thought of maybe finding some STO alternatives not ran by Cryptic.
So, I just logged into Second Life and will work on my 3d modelling which will be more productive then grinding for nothing.
I heard of a game called "real life".
Although, supposedly, the gameplay sucks. And it has no respawn. But the graphics are gorgeous...
Actually, in real life I enjoy 3d modelling which I am doing at this very moment, and Second Life is a good platform to create and test models. Definitely beat a grindfest that results into nothing.
None current that I'm aware of. At least with that combo of exploration, engineering, and combat.
Firefall had potential that way, but problems at the top of the company created delays and misdirections. I've heard they've done some personnel housekeeping, but am not sure if they've improved since then.
Star Citizen might, one day, but is still in development.
Honestly...star trek games have a history of being garbage. STO (and maybe Elite Force) are the only ones that have been really good (in my opinion).
Regarding the nerfs...this is just the nature of MMOs.
Actually, I talked to someone about the Nerf. I forgot which game it was. You reach up to level 70 and then you can build passive skills. No nerfing. The company makes harder content for the more elite players.
Anyway, I'm going try to stay away from the whole topic again.
I did not say, I quit. I said do anyone have better alternatives. I'm not abandoning the fleets I'm in but they might only see me log in 5 or 10 mins during a day.

Since when do you need a console system to play a PC game?
Yea. They added mesh features. So, I can model stuff and upload to some type of engine for testing. I been on high gear in 3d modelling since I started to test the new season on Tribble.

The problem is that STO wants content available to everyone without any type of gating system. There might be a Nightmare Mode eventually, but the only difference between its rewards and normal and elite rewards is more Marks and Dilithium. Some MMOs have content gated behind Gearscore, but not STO. After all,Elite content is becoming too difficult for veteran players and if Cryptic made challenging content for them, then the new players would find it too challenging which defeats the purpose of making content available to everyone. So this results in the first step of resolving the power creep with the Reputation Passive Powers Nerf/Buff.
As far as your search for a good STO alternative, it would require a MMO that has a major ground and space system. Most Science Fiction MMOs focus on just space or ground. The only other MMO I know of that comes close to STO is The Old Republic and even then STO has the superior space system and F2P system. Star Citizen seems to focus on space while Wildstar seems to focus on Ground. Wildstar comes out in June while Star Citizen is a ways off.
You know the Foundry is a good place to create missions you want to see. Sure it could use a ton of Dev support and tools. It has even been suggested that certain Foundry missions could be intersperced to give exploration a true Star Trek feel rather than grinding kill five mobs TRIBBLE.
Once you no longer have the desire to buy the next lockbox and keep up with the Joneses then you have to look at combat as second tier. PvP and grinding for reputation is boring after a while. That is why the Foundry is so interesting, it is always something different. I do wish they would offer different catagories in the foundry missions.
Exploration- "To seek out strange new worlds"
Meat Grinder - combat oriented
Mystery- Sabotage or Spy missions
Relief Missions with "REAL" rewards
Archelogical Missions
Trade Missions with "REAL" rewards
Diplomatic missions
First Contact Missions
Deep Space Missions
This would give players a plethora of content be it Fed/KDF/Rommie. See the thing is rather than buying lock box keys for ships perhaps 10 Missions that payout the wazoo for experience and dilithium {say 25K refined dilithium} could be bought for the price of the key. Just an idea... one who's time has come.

I tried Foundry and created some machines. The fact I couldn't create various outcomes kinda stopped me. I did some other tricks to simulate entering a space station. A player has to wait to receive communication to transport out. I also made Undine look like Borg.
I have to be carfeul, because I will be Nerfed for even suggesting something other then STO or if I mention I am going to create some type of personal game for me and friends because of the new season.
I might be Nerfed just for taking action on my view.

Dude, it's the STO forums.
The STO forums.
Discussing creating your own games here and posting "I quit" threads is extremely rude in the first case, and against the rules in the second.

*sets stopwatch and waits for the Modhammer...*
If a game is not going be competitive, then there should be no problem. If it's personal then it should be no problem. If it will be shared friends only then there should be no problem.
As for the I quit thread, not ONCE did I say I will quit. I only said my time would be extremely curtailed.
Cryptic already said that they will not make any content with higher difficulty, will not update foundry, and will Nerf constantly for new users not catering to veterans also.
So, I'm not being rude at all. I choosing to do something other then the grindfest and getting other people thoughts.
Yeah the Foundry desperately needs the support D.Stahl promised it back in season 5... wow... a long long time ago.....
Yea. At least I tried it. I couldn't make a unknown faction ship because there isn't any in Foundry. I almost got close to a dynamic space environment but because there is always one outcome. That didn't work either.

Might want to check out on Neverwinter's Foundry system. STO is supposed to get Neverwinter's Foundry tech to update STO's Foundry and supposedly, a modified version of it would allow customizable ship interiors.

Aala
(I wanted to PM you this so as not to make waves, but can't find a PM button on you profile...)
I play SWTOR(Star Wars: the old republic), and Its pretty cool...
The game plays and feels like any other Biowear game(Knights of the old republic games, Mass Effect games, Dragon Age Games, and Jade Empire), the gameplay itself feels a lot like this game(except way less space battles), the Story is less focused on Galactic politics and more focussed on your individual character, you have the ability to decide how you are going to approach and resolve almost every situation, and all the Dialog in the game is voice acted... Hell, you can even go threw the trouble of talking to and getting to know your crew as they all have a history and unique personalities, and aren't just a space holder defined only by their job title..
Honestly, The more I play this game, the more I want to make a new character in That one.. lol
Still waiting on the Mods, but I'm pretty sure that when Bluegeek finds this we're going to be hit by a Forum Phaser MK XIV [+Mod][-Flames].
I really hope that Bluegeek specifically hits this one, actually. I like it when Mods have a special name for the Modhammer.
Well then, I'll be sure to save a copy of everything I said above, just in case I have to repost it... I hate when Mods edit Members post. it feels like our thoughts or opinions are deemed unimportant and therefor not only do they choose to ignore it, but they strip us of our right to be heard by anyone else..
I haven't encountered that kind of TRIBBLE-esk Mod abuse on this forum yet though, so I still have high hopes...

I SUPPORT the Mods editing member posts when we break the rules. You want to be "heard"? Then go on MMORPG.com and start a thread that wouldn't be allowed here.
The mods here are REALLY light on the Modhammer. I've only been Hammered for flaming (got into a flame war with some guy who kept belittling ARC haters), posting borderline material (the Mods ARE twitchy about religious and political content, which IMO is a good thing since it keeps the forums mostly clean and peaceful), and one time when I offered in perhaps slightly too explicit terms to be the EPH's concubine (although in that case Smirk was nice enough to give me advance warning, and I edited the offending material before he had to Hammer me).
Compared to the Blizzard clowns or the EA chimps? The mods here are worthy of a gold star for quality.
If that's how it has to be, then I will defend myself by pointing out that your accusation of me being "POSTER 11" is inaccurate by your definition... What I said was related to the OP, then the rest response to you... Sorry, troll harder next time..

thats all good to know. i enjoy a laidback forum, and i can agree with not letting RL religion and Politics in here(as those topics only ever lead to trouble), but I'm still not OK with post editing/deleting.. I said it, I own it, and I have a right for people to see it...
Its not really a big deal though as I have no intention of saying anything mean or hurtful just for the sake of being mean, but If someone wants my honest opinion I want to be 100% sure that I can give it without being censored or oppressed..
That all said, we should probably get back on topic.. lol
When I want my exploration fix, I usually turn to procedurally generated games like Minecraft or Terraria. A 2D survival platformer game called Starbound allows you to explore a ridiculously vast galaxy of star systems and planets. It looks promising, assuming the developers don't flake out on the game like most early access game developers tend to. Not sure if that will tickle your fancy.
Space Engineers is essentially Minecraft in space and allows you to construct spaceships or stations in the vacuum of space. Also in early development but it's coming along nicely.
