Confused about Protonic + ATM + Photon

So I decided to do a a build with the following:

3 x Protonic Polaron Dual Heavy Cannons (Fore)
1 x Bio-Molecular Warhead Launcher (Fore)
3 x Protonic Polaron Turret (Aft)

I decided to add the following tactical consoles:

Console - Tactical - Auto Targeting Module [+PhP]

Which would give me the following stats:

+2.5% Accuracy
+15% Proton Damage
+20% Photon Projectile Damage

I was expecting that the following would happen:

+15% Proton Damage to all the Protonic weapons
+20% Photon Projectile Damage to the Bio-Molecular Warhead

Slotting in the console and removing it does nothing to any of the weapons damage values.

If I go to the ground I see the numbers change and back into space, however with the consoles in the tactical slot none of the values change ...

What is the point of the tactical consoles and what do they actually work on?

Where are you looking at the damage values?

Generally, the best location (imho) to look would involve the following:

    1) Go to normal space (orbital space, mission space, zone space).
    2) Click the View All Abilities button on the hotbar/actionbar/tray.
    3) Locate a weapon in the available list.
    4) Slot/Unslot/Reslot the Console.

Do the numbers change for you at this point?

Gave it a go and the numbers stay the same.

I was in the Dyson space zone and then I tried sector space, I was looking at the ship screen (U key) and putting my mouse over the weapon; I would remember the initial number, slot console and see the increases (do this a couple of times to see the various weapons change).

Once that failed, I started a borg STF and checked in there and quickly unslotted and then slotted the console, made no difference ... only did it once because we have an STF to complete and I did not want to annoy anyone by messing around with my ship! :)

Protonic Polaron weapons do POLARON damage not PROTON damage. So you need to get + Proton damage consoles.

That's because protonic polaron is polaron damage type not proton.

The only proton weapons for space are the Dyson ship built-in cannon and the Experimental Proton Weapon from Dyson rep. For ground you can get the Dyson rep ground weapon.

Thank you for your help virusdancer, aramyll and potencethe1st

That makes a lot more sense, I will have to revise this build a little, I already have 2 x Console - Tactical - Polaron Phase Modulator that are unused, so that is an easy swap! Just need to get 2 more and remove the ATM [+PHP] versions.

D'oh, I just realized where you were looking (I believe) which would explain one aspect. The other is a bug that I hope they fix before S9.

If you're looking at the current Bio-Molecular Warhead Launcher on Holodeck (instead of the variants on Tribble), this is not buffed by Photon consoles (the old is not buffed on Tribble either - and - they need to fix that). It's a bug.

When you were looking at the increase in damage for the Protonic Polarons...were you looking at the Polaron damage or the Proton damage?

The weapons are Protonic Polarons. They're Polaron weapons with a Proton proc. They're not Proton weapons with a Polaron proc.

The Protonic damage is buffed by the ATM consoles - but unless you're running a Polaron ATM, you're not going to see a buff to the Polaron damage from them.

    Hi virusdancer,

I had a stupid moment, I was using 3 x Protonic polaron and they only do Polaron damage. The other being a bug makes a lot more sense as to why both were not changing.

I have the Dyson Science Destroyer which has the Solanae Dual Heavy Proton Cannon weapon, so I will shift the consoles onto it and add a non-bugged photon torpedo or mix-and-match with some other ATM consoles. Not really sure what build I am going to come out with just yet.

I was trying to do a Dhelan Protonic build and failed, so now it's become a polaron build, I have at least 1 ATM [+Pol] in my bank, just need to get one more console most likely Poloron based as it stacks better :)

Moral of the story for me ... carefully read the weapon descriptions before planning a build! ;)

    Have a good day!

I run a Phased Polaron build on a Mogai, but the principal is the same = POLARON enhancing equipment is the one you want.

Protonic Polaron on a Romulan toon is good, because you have a higher Proton Proc chance and the Proton damage is direct to hull, so technically, and if you are very lucky, you can destroy an enemy when they have full shields. (this is a "thing" certain PvP'ers are using BTW)

Also look at perhaps using 2 pieces of the Jem-H Space Set, as this has a +15(?) Polaron Damage enhancement as well.
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh
