It has been over a year since
my last post.
Looks like nothing has changed much about the game. I see players still come here to whine about the game. About the same as every other online game. I have to admit in the last year developers didn't add all that much either. Here I thought they planned to add a 3rd faction with the playable Romulans. I guess I read that wrong on my part. I didn't play after they asked me to join KDF or SF. That is not a complaint, just saying I didn't see a point to continue to play stuff I already went through before.
Meanwhile I almost level capped my Rift character. That game gets stale quick. But it was something to do. I am messing with Dawn of the Dragons, not a 3D game, I play it through Facebook. I have to watch what I download at work
But I like seeing the red veins pop out like that on my manager's neck. I swear the man is going to have stroke, I only hope I am the one who gives it to him. lol Then I will get promoted or go to jail...
I here the Foundry is still boned? They expect players to develop playable content they should either;
a) give them a better tool
b) pay them real cash
c) both
I might get banned just for suggesting that... I get paid to write TRIBBLE software why shouldn't you?
Speaking of getting paid, I tried this mmo called "Entropy", don't bother. The name should give you a clue. It means decay or rot. Everything in the game decays or breaks on you. You go hunting on an alien planet and your gun runs out of bullets or breaks. Then they want you to pay real world cash to repair it or replace it. I had a vehicle and it ran out of gas. This one is a miss for sure.
What else is there to "catch up on"? Anyone have any babies, new puppy, or a lifestyle change?

While you do have to ally with FED or KDF with the Romulans, the Romulans have their own story content all the way to max level. You don't even have to play the FED or KDF content.
Speaking of which, the KDF (finally) got story content for levels 1-50. We have the new Dyson Sphere, 2 new reputations and Season 9 is introducing an Undine story arc, revamping kits, the tailor, and more.
Cruisers have received a new mechanic to bring them back into competition with escorts and science vessels are getting something similar in Season 9.
Finally, you can change your UI colour scheme to match that of TNG, VOY, the standard 25th Century FED blue, Klingon red, Orion green, Romulan green or Reman purple, an it changes colour when you enter red alert (yes, it's a minor thing, but it's cool as heck!)
The game is in much better shape than it was a year ago.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! That's something they'd have done on the original Star Tre...
Oh.

I think they introduced the Romulans for the same reason Blizz introduced death knights and pandas: the community demanded new races but they needed an out to keep players within a "relatively contained space."
I really wish that some MMO would introduce a multi-faction game (beyond two factions that is) either out of the box or via expansions, but the way many MMOs seem to have PVP set up, at any given time there can only be two sides on the "field." I would also like to see some faction specific abilities or gear or something introduced into MMOs. I think when they redid the Talent system in STO, they ****ed up trying to make it like the old system so there wouldn't be much need for adapting and let the potential for further customization fall at the wayside (see the aforementioned faction-specific abilities).
One thing I have never been a fan of is the entire focus on space abilities (talents and skills) over ground when maybe 65% of the game is space related and the rest is ground. It's completely unbalanced, honestly. I dropped STO shortly before the skill revamp and when I came back like 6 months later it felt like someone had mind-****ed with all my characters and their abilities and some of my gear. Half of the stuff didn't even do the same function but was left in the same area (Focus Fire to Battle Strategies is the only one I can think of off the top of my head).
To be perfectly fair and honest though, half the TRIBBLE I am complaining about is relatively minor in the scope of their updates (I'm not really looking forward to the kit update but that's similarly minor and I want refunds on the cost of getting all the resources for reputation that they are modifying). Overall, they've done okay and I'm... content with the content thus far.
