Cryptic has had the whole year to prepare this latest fiasco. So what's the excuse this time for not being able to collect the Romulan doff? You all couldn't devote enough time to an annual special event, because... what? ESD needed to be revamped, right? You're like the Charlie Brown of video game companies. You guys can't do anything right.
I tried to do the scanning game, but gave up, and dropped it after the first three dots I scanned, collapsed, and gave me nothing. This game just isn't fun at all, anymore. You guys are without a doubt, the worst video game company, ever.
I agree with you...even though I am not gonna touch this scanning event, Cryptic is in a downward spiral and Season 9 proves it.

My only real beef with this event is the bugged Romulan contact.
Such a simple thing, blatantly obvious if anyone had bothered to look.
Flagged up early yesterday and no response or acknowledgement from anyone from the devs or the CMs.
It's lazy, just lazy.
I also don't like that romulan doffing is almost non-existent - there are no chains - no refugees.
Well there are some chains that you can buy into through lock-box stuff - but no refugee turn in as far as I know.
it's a joke that he doffs are now just another way Cryptic sells power creep into the game - but wait they are taking away power creep you earn - yeah next lock box - more doff and items power creep!
1 hour particle chasing - I could send off 10+ refugee missions in that time get at least 8 doffs back - and most likely 1 purple and several blues.
Can you elaborate on the horrors that Cryptic has given us...?
Us: "We're sick of grinds and want something actually fun to do!"
Cryptic: "Here's a grind."
Us: "No, fun! F-U-N."
Cryptic: "Here's another grind."
Us: "Do you know what the word 'fun' means?"
Cryptic: "Here's yet another grind. Oh, and here's the really brilliant part: it's time-gated so you have to burn the whole fifteen minutes. And we fixed a bug that was making it stop spawning things occasionally, instead of stopping the timer after a certain number of rifts got closed like in a Borg STF."
Us: "No, I'm seriously mailing you a dictionary. Look up the word 'fun', please."
Cryptic: "And another grind, even more mind-numbing than the last one."
Us: "Ustedes comprenden ingles? Vous comprenez l'anglais? Sie verstehen Englisch? Du forstar engelska?"
Seriously, I'm really starting to get convinced that Cryptic and PWE think you can't spell 'fun' without 'F U'.
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"

Cryptic have a problem with all the words starting with F. For example, factions. They only remember the Federation, and have a lot of trouble with the other 2, well, sorry, the other 1.5.
I did this "event" with my rom. And I had a NPC telling me how the Federation is grateful for everything I've done for "us".
But I was still happy, it could have been worse, I could have been a KDF/Rom, and being awarded with a Reman DOFF, because you never have too many Remans on you crew.
It would have been fun if it was the first time. But I've stopped counting a long time ago.

I didnt collect any particles at all, didnt even start the quest.
Simply walked up to the duty officer npc. (st'TRIBBLE at the klingon academy, as the romulan velaar at the command center, is broken and sents you to fed academy) and got a nice purple maint. engineer that way.

I happen to think its great fun, I used to enjoy playing this when it was for dil, the mission hasn't changed but I think the prize is better.
I have 3 v.rare doffs so far and should get a few more before the weekends out.
My momma always said, "every particle you scan is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I'm sure this is true, and I'm equally sure you're not alone.
It was never my cup of tea when it was an hourly, but the academies were often crowded at those times, so clearly some people were having fun.
Which is totally fair enough, not every event has to be my favourite thing ever.
However, I am very disappointed with the broken romulan contact.
It's not some difficult to reproduce bug that could have slipped past testing, its a ridiculously blatant bug that would be picked up the first time it was tested.
Which means it wasn't tested, which in itself is not something I want cryptic to have a habit of.
The total silence from cryptic since the issue was identified is also troubling.
So, we have non-existent QA, followed by non-existent customer relations on the issue.
Wanted to jump in to reply to the missing Romulan DOff contact. Rojal is indeed missing from New Romulus Command, and while we have been able to identify how this oversight was missed, unfortunately we will not be able to patch it back into place before the event ends.
This is totally an error on our end and we apologize for the missing contact.
While it is small consolation, and does not make up for the error, Romulan players are still able to get their allied special DOffs.
Speak to Lt Ferra and Captain Jarol at Starfleet Academy to receive your very rare Exocomp DOff.
Speak to Lt S'stas and Captain Laroj at the Klingon Academy to receive your very rare Reman DOff.
We have identified the missing Rojal as a bug that has prevented him from spawning, so the next time we run this event, we can assure she properly spawns so you can claim your exclusive Romulan DOff, but we do apologize for everyone missing out on that reward this time.
Sorry everyone! Don't forget to grab your allies DOffs and participate as much as you would like in the Particle Scanning Event for random quality DOffs, so you don't completely miss out!
This is going on my new "never forget" list to make sure the next time this event runs that everything is going according to plan.

Broken missions, people who log in then CTD, people that can't even log in, frequent disconnects, lost mail items, boffs that fall off maps, boffs that disappear completely except for the weapon they're holding, weapons that disappear from character's hands, missing or incorrect textures on ship models, porked animations on ship models, inaccurate ship models, collision issues, problems with creating characters, problems with editing characters, tailor problems, Features that don't work, features that only sort of work, boffs that float above the ground on your bridge, boffs that are stuck in the floor of your bridge, boffs that are standing on consoles on your bridge, boffs that are facing away from their consoles on your bridge, maps that flicker, exchange bugs, boff bugs, weapon bugs, new bugs, old bugs, ancient pre-launch bugs...
This is just a start, off the top of my head, and is by no means exhaustive. What did I miss? Does anybody have anything else I didn't mention?
Huh. Interesting. Can't say I've experienced them, but I'll take your word that they're there somehow.
You must be one of the select few, that are running a copy of the ultra rare, "Special Flawless Edition", other than that, I don't know what to tell ya'.
Maybe it's just perspective. STO just seem like the best MMO I've ever played that I don't even notice any of the bugs. Keep in mind that I have played some horrifyingly bad MMORPGs for almost a decade before joining STO. But I can honestly say, STO has impressed me with everything it has been doing, and I just can't find sense in complaining about random unnoticeable(from my perspective) bugs.
If STO is as bad as some say it is... that sure as hell says something about the other MMOs I've played. =3

Not good.
There's been absolutely no word whatsoever.
Not an acknowledgment, not a promise to investigate, nothing at all.
It's almost as if they're just trying to run out the clock on the event and hope we forget about it
There is no word from Cryptic, only deafening silence.
I'll do the quick 30 min particle troll for a chance to get a doff worth 10-50 million EC.
40 million made just last night.
Lots of crybabies on this forum.
Reading is, apparently, crucial.
Most aren't complaining about the particle grind, a few, but not most.
Most are pointing at the clearly untested bug on New Romulus that we have yet to hear any response from cryptic about.
Do try to keep up.
My character Tsin'xing
True, but sometimes they do acknowledge the bug. I know it is rare but I think if they did it would placate a few posters.
Just read they have acknowledge it in the news section. That's good to know.
