Getting close to the same feeling too, I have a lot of time and money invested in the community and my own accounts. All I'm getting in return is a bad investment at some point soon I'm gonna have to drop it...let's hope that the new changes to pvp will turn it around for us.
Its funny but somewhere I agree with aldo, even if hes probably sarcastic. The amount of time wasted on inferior aspects of this game as a whole has really made me sad.
Inferior? Oh gosh, it's terrible that a business wants to attract more players by designing their websites to be presentable to anybody passing by. Criminal even!!!:D
A toddler in a dirty diaper can present a handful of poo to folks passing by...doesn't mean you want it to happen.

Just reinforces the new post F2P direction for STO (and Cryptic as a whole really). You're not expected to stay around for long. Even the new upcoming limits on active rep passives reinforces this. Sure, its "A" solution to a type of power creep, but not the only solution, ans certainly not a solution to all powercreep. They get an A in "Appearing to be doing something while not doing anything" studies.

I would hope you would be smart enough to understand that ARC is PWE's baby - their time and investment - and not Cryptic's.
On top of all that, the ARC website is designed to take advantage of the Tablet market - Tablets are now outselling PCs and that trend is expected to continue until PCs are all but phased out at some point in the future.
With PW pushing toward Console emulation - having recently created an entire Console division of their corporation, as well as announcing NWNs is going to Console - they are pushing toward a market where the ARC website better fits both the Console and the Tablet user.
The wheel keeps turning.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Like all the new Art updates these days are really desired by many. Forcing unnecessary changes, look at the damn STO website. I cant even find patchnotes anymore properly. Everyone's just copy pasting each other thinking some form of UI is the new hot rage. Same with Win8, how many ppl complained about the changes on the UI it was just stupid and had no purpose other then to so called be more firendly to touch screens/monitors and tablets lol.
Changes developers, designers, etc push and force out these days are imho often just time wasting endeavours, just for the idea of 'renewing' themselves to keep people from getting bored I guess. Its a personal preference I guess.
Btw I think Cryptic does more with PWE on the website business then you think. In fact, they even said they at one point would interexchange the in-game exchange with the STO Website! lol that was planned for end 2013, ofcourse knowing Cryptic they never keep their word, but despite that..
