I notice that in the lobi store there is a cannon weapon that has the bonus of soemthing like, "Damage will not diminish with distance".
Both cannon and beam drop off, beams drop off slower. The details are on the wiki but past 5 cannons begin to approach the dps of a DBB. At 7+ the DBB beings to win out (both weapons fired at the same distance). Cannons should really be kept to about 3k and closer for optimal results.
Cannon, dual cannons and turrets DPS will drop down to 25% efficiency on 10 km range.
Beam arrays and beam bank will drop to 80% efficiency on 10 km range.
Have in mind that every weapon starts slowly loosing dps at about 2km and beyond.
Cannons will keep most of their efficiency at least 6km, try not go beyond that point.
It's worth restating that while cannons have a steeper drop off in damage due to distance (all weapons do less damage at distances greater than 2km), DHCs start so much higher that it's not until 7.5km that they only do as much damage as a DBB at that distance.
The numbers are a bit different from what ridddickxxx posted above, but it's always nice to have a graph to look at.
There is no Q in Star Trek!... really wish he wheren't, but at least that annoying *** got punched in the face finally ... There is no healing magic in Star Trek!... most times, at least. There is no Trinity in Star Trek! ... so why do you insist?
