I dunno, it kinda looks like the old shipyard room that had when STO first launched. It was a dark room with different holograms of ships per Tier class and you would just walk up to each hologram to get your ship.

I agree, it does look like the original shipyard. The ramps up to each alcove give it away.

Edit: Found a pic of the old shipyard, not mine though.

its been so long i completely forgot the old shipyard! i was there before it was changed, only a few times is probably why i didnt recognize it just like that.

what is below esd in the new version?

    http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=n3oj6d&s=8

forgive the TRIBBLE color palette, but that is essentially it until it was closed up a few weeks ago, ovbiously the new esd has changed a bit with the shuttlebay otherwise most of it is exactly what would appear as if you found your way under esd.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Haha. Yeah I did that myself when I saw the open bay. What was even funnier is that after I respawned and went back, I watched a train of people do the same thing. I couldn't stop laughing at a line of Starfleet officers running as fast as they could in order to jump off into oblivion. Testing unfinished stuff can be frustrating sometimes, but man does it have some hilarious moments.

Pity you can't access the shuttlebay anymore. I thought it was a great and beautiful place to walk around. Now it's cut off. What a waste...

If you fall through the floor near the Vendors in ESD there are crates with bombs on them. Yes the floor under that area is rigged with explosives.

I think what you meant to say was Iconians. The Federation have Iconians living in their basement - which is why the Iconians are always one step ahead of them. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Someone has GOT to try and jump on top of one of the shuttles flying through the shuttle bay!
Imagine "surfing" a shuttle out the door?

Earth looked rather beautiful from outside as well ...

I do think it's a bit of a shame to lock off the shuttle bay. When I first went down there and started poking around, I saw a Yellowstone approaching from the outside. It flew closer and as soon as it entered the bay, it flew right over my head before continuing on to the interior dock with the Vesta in it. Probably the coolest moment I've had in STO that will never happen. :(

I tried. :P The shuttles have no collision so they just ghost right through you. The forcefield 'walls' in the bay doors DO have collision, so either way it doesn't work. :(

There's a yellow ring under there of sorts too you can walk around for a time.
You used to be able to get to it with the old transport by the window thing but its been a long time since I've done it.

Awww ... that sux ... Cryptic = "The Fun Police" strike agin' :D

Guess we'll only be allowed to through Disco Balls in the new ESD, unless the fuddy duddy's at Cryptic take those from us as well? But where is the harm in it? Even if some newb gets stuck and cries out for a DM to help ...

Twer me I'd just say, whelp, ya shouldn't a bin tryin to climb on tha furniture! Log out and log back in, in around 15mins, and let that be a lessen to ya, or it's a paddlin' fer you!

What it needs in a special "Touriism" NPC ...

1 Lobi or 5 Qmendations, gets you teleported outside of ESD in a Photonic Forcefield Bubble of air so you can experience free fall and an uninterrupted view of our beautiful home.

I can tell by looking at your screenshots that what you're seeing is the underside of the shuttlebay in the new ESD interior map.

Also, you could try hopscotching down there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maPWrPzo19U

Judging by the architecture, I'd say it was the wrecked room.

    the wrecked room?
Sound like the starting plot of an horror movie. Should follow some explanations about a mythical haunted room, with a lot of murders/blood/terrible things. Then everybody laugh, and forget.
    Until people start dying.
