I have a suggestion. Hopefully someone in the inner-sanctum can provide a thought for it or at least a consideration.
Since STO became a free-to-play and some of us are long time Life membership participants, it would seem rather fitting for STO to have another reward for loyalty.
Here's my suggestion. For those who have been with STO as member fees paying subscribers for say, ........ 3 years, how about an achieved honorary lifetime membership?
Well, it does seem a bit silly that people who have been paying monthly subscriptions long enough to have actually paid MORE than the cost of a lifetime membership should either not "get" a lifetime membership or not get the member bonuses associated with such a "lifer" membership...
Though, if STO simply stopped charging people after X number of months equivalent to the cost of a lifetime membership, would their income stream dry up? Dunno...
And, since we're talking about "lifer" memberships & perks or whatnot, I'm still stumping for part of the monthly stipend to be 1-5 master keys per month. I mean, really... Would it kill Cryptic to let us open 1 (or even 5) of our literally hundreds or thousands of lock boxes per month for free? Given our monetary contribution to the game?
My thought was that monthly subscribers should get 1/mo and lifer get like 3-5/mo or something. Honestly, it's not much and you'll probably never actually get any of the "chase" items with it, but it would be nice to get a tiny bit of Lobi and maybe some duty officer packs or XP booksts or whatnot out of the deal...

In DCUO, lifers and subbers get to open their lockboxes for free as one of the perks for subbing.

And DCUO did their lockboxes completely different than STO's version. Promethium Lockboxes aren't tradeable and have a low drop rate so you might get 1 lockbox per day instead of Cryptic where you get far too many. Also, their keys cost twice as much as ours. So if Cryptic allowed lifers to open lockboxes for free, then you won't be opening hundreds per day or having your friends give you lockboxes so you can open them up for free since it is far too easy to abuse the system so Cryptic loses money.

Still, I suppose it sort of "begs the question."

Just a thought.
