Shouldn't the friendly NPC Romulans and Remans on New Romulus be wearing Republic Uniforms? At least, the ones with ranks?

They're most likely civilians. That's like having civilians wearing Military uniform. They don't.

He's probably referring to the friendly Romulan NPC in the New Romulus adventure zone. They're usually dressed in Tal Shiar attire.

So, yes, I do agree. They should be either garbed as civilians, or wear the Republic uniform.

Oh. In which case, yes they should. My mistake.

Can one of the templates in the tailor be the standard New Romulus uniforms?

I think the brown bellhop uniforms with the rubber turtlenecks are supposed to be the standard uniform for uhlans etc. That would probably be the appropriate uniform.

I was a little confused by the NPCs who looked and dressed a lot like the Tal Shiar. It's like "what side am I suppose to be working for again?"

There's also the one NPC dressed like a Tal'Shiar agent whom you free in the Mountain Pass rep mission, who proclaims that you "have performed a valuable service to the Empire." Mi scusi? I did no such thing!

That's to keep the players guessing as to who they really are... For example, they could be Tal Shiar (which happens often especially in the Staging Area of New Romulus). I don't have a problem with the NPCs not wearing Romulan Republic uniforms.

If they wanted to keep us guessing, it could be accomplished by putting those Tal'Shiar agents Republic uniforms or civilian wear, such as happens at the Staging Area. When you're wandering around the Vastam Peaks, you know that anyone you see in a Tal'Shiar uniform is an enemy.

Also, worth considering is the fact that not everyone on ch'Mol'Rihan is part of the military, so civilian wear would be acceptable -- but Imperial uniforms would not be, and Tal'Shiar uniforms would certainly not be, unless the NPC in question were an enemy.

Well yeah, the original conception for New Romulus seems to have been the strongest faction to emerge following Sela's disappearance, rather than one of two factions involved in a civila war. Cryptic did a rather haphazard job getting New Romulus to to adhere to the new storyline when they went through with the retcons, hence the Tal Shiar uniformed Romulans, and some of the weird conversations you get in the cutscenes. Best to ignore the majority of the New Romulus content in terms of the storyline IMO. It just doesn't synch up very well with the stuff introduced in LoR.

Lol yeah, remade a fed character for the first time in forever and the Romulan Republic doesn't even exist in their storyline. Even that base of medical personnel that you massacre are all rocking Tal Shiar uniforms.

Anyway the answer is that New Romulus is older than Legacy of Romulus, before the romulans went all browncoats on us, and the devs haven't gone back and redone it.

Meanwhile New Romulus command looks exactly like you'd expect.

It would be even better if our security team and ship crew wore proper uniforms instead of looking like some waiters from some country steak house.

...and if the person that says, "Congratulations, citizen" didn't soind like someone from a game show.

Anyway, I do agree. I do support the RSE (and think D'tan and the Republic are morons) but they should at least wear the Republic uniforms.

I agree. The Romulans we meet on Mol'Rihan should be wearing either civilian refugee clothing or Republic uniforms.

The effort to go back and "fix" the costumes in the New Romulus Adventure Zone looks to be pretty non-trivial to me though. It's a big map, and they'd have to touch every NPC on it.

I bet there are Devs who have that very fix on their own wish lists, but it ain't on the schedule, it's not likely to get on the schedule anytime soon, and it's not going to happen unless and until it's on the schedule.

On the flipside, one could easily argue that --

1.) Republic-style uniforms are only issued to those Romulans who belong to the Republic fleet. Ground forces may well wear a different uniform.

2.) Many Romulan refugees are wearing what they've got. In some cases, that might just be an old uniform they kept when they defected from the remnants of the RSE.

Selectively and gradually adding Republic-style clothing in the NRA might be a better option than a pass to replace them all.
