Why isn't refined dilithium account bound?

hyplhypl Member Posts: 3,719 Arc User
(Account wide I mean, shared across all characters.)

Currently I don't understand this. Is there a specific reason why? What am I missing?

Juggling refined dilithium between characters is a bit of a needless hassle.

If dilithium were bound that means you couldn't sell it. The whole point is that you can mine dilithium to sell on the exchange for zen, which lets you purchase C Store items for no money. That's the entire basis of the games F2P system.

No, I think he means why is refined dilithium not shared across all characters on an account?

Oh, that's different from account bound. So something like the zen balance that's shared across all chars on the account?

Dilithium is used to trade for Zen among other things.
If you make it account bound, it means you cannot trade it with others, which is what you do when you buy/sell Zen.

An item that is account bound is locked to your account.
It means that you can give it to other characters on your account, but you cannot give it to another player on another account.

Though it sounds to me like what you are asking for is not for it to be account bound, but rather for there to be one central pool of dilithium for your account that you access with all characters, instead of one for each individual character.

Personally I do not agree with there being one pool of dilithium for all characters, I prefer it to be for each individual character like it is now.

However I would like to see an easier wasy to transfer Dilithium between characcters.
Make it so you can deposit Dilithium in your account bank, just as you can with EC.
It would certainly be better than the current system.

You can send it to your alts though.

Go to the exchange and say you will buy zen for 50 dilithium each. Nobody will sell for that. Then cancel those orders. It puts the dil in a holding. Log to the other character and withdraw it.

I did this today in Champions and questionite (their counterpart to dilithium)

    Yeah, thats the basic route.

Although, i could see cryptic making a little bit of cash for a little bit of code, by graciously allowing us to add in the feature to our account bank for a little bit of zen.

Me too. I just want to put it straight into an account pool or something, then withdraw them on the characters that need it rather than go through the exchange.

You don't have to convert your dili for it to go to the 'account wallet' in the exchange. Put it up for sale at a price that won't be bought, then cancel the trade.

then swap chars and deposit/withdrawal accordingly.

I think the OP is advocating for an account dilithium wallet so you don't have to go through the Exchange at all.

Please mention this a few times more so they can "fix" that with the next patch

They've known about it since dilithium was added to the game 2 yearrs ago. One of the devs even commented about it being an easy to to combine dilithium onto 1 account after the dilithium exchange opened up.

Just use the exchange as an account pool. I keep a hundred thousand or so on there listed at 100 per CP that I pull from whenever i need it.

Don't get me wrong, an automated account pool would be nice, but when there's a perfectly functional and very easy workaround, I'd rather them spend time fixing something that's actually broken.

I guess he meant a common pool for the account instead of being bound lol
here's a pro tip: dilithium exchange let's you sell dil and ZEN back and forth. convert the dilithium you want to ZEN, withdraw it, go to the character that needs it and sell the ZEN. Have fun :)

+1 for my account bank to hold dilithium.
[12:35] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 225232 (271723) Plasma Damage to you with Plasma Lance.
[12:44] Vessel One of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 1019527 (1157678) Kinetic Damage to you with Plasma Energy Bolt Explosion.

LOL. I just usually convert it to Zen, and then sell said Zen for Dilithium again on my alt. But your method is definitely better.

    Because of reasons. Good ones.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
