Some minor changes to the build posted above. Get some cheap damage control engineers, to run two EptX on full uptime. If you can find someone training EptS3/EptW3 for you, you can run EptS/W1/A2SIF1/EptS/W3 for your eng station and get full uptime on the EptX abilites. I swapped the Reman Covariant for the Solanae Resilient, because the Solanae Shield has a flat 10% allres and the 3pc is a good hull heal proc.
Looks like a solid build! I only have that torp skill because I already have 2 tac teams and 2 cannon rapid fire that both run full time and there isn't another skill I can put there that would be useful. And I didn't even notice the boarding party. I will definitely work on switching up my eng powers. I would really prefer to stick to all energy. Maybe I could switch out cannon rapid fire 2 for rapid fire 1 and get me a different Lt.C skill?

Solanae is from A Step Between Stars, right? Sorry I am really new to this game. What's A2SIF1?
A2SIF1 = Auxiliary to Structural Integrity Field 1. But tbh, you're better off with running engineering team, since it doesn't scale with auxiliary power, and it generally provides better healing than the equivalent rank of a2sif at full aux. You can also get some duty officers, that reduce the cooldown on it. (Maintenance Engineers) Solanae Shield is from that mission, right. And some minor change, that i forgot to add. Drop the sci team, use hazard emitters instead. They remove plasma burns and energy drains, and that's what some npc's (borg and voth) love to use.

Since I am not an engineering captain, I am unable to train my officers in EPtW/S 3 or ET 3. I checked the exchange and found no luck there, either. How would I go about acquiring these two skills?
IF you know someone who can is an Engi captain, you can trade them your boffs if they have room and they can train them, and trade back.
You can also just ask in general chat on ESD or some other station for another player to help you, but they might charge a fee.
as for EPtW/S 3, you do not need these since you only have 1 Lt. comm engi station. the reason i said to use A2SIF2 is because you do not need another captain to train that, you can get it from the Boff trainer NPC.
I need to get through the rest of my missions to get the Warp Core shown in the builds, and do A Step Between Stars again for the Deflector Array (not sure if I want it since my current one adds a lot to my shields and hull, and I don't really need the exotic damage or anything.)

You should get the deflector, it and the engines are better than random drops simply because of the 2-piece bonus.
Also, you still have Torp: high yield. if you are not planning to use any torps, or switch to beams, then using the armitage is slightly pointless since you now have a station that does nothing.

Would putting beam arrays in the back be viable alternative to my turrets?

not really, all that does is lower your DPS, either go ALL beam arrays, or use a single torp, at least for now until you get the Kinetic cutting Beam array and then putting a beam target subsystem ability in the back will work.
If you want, what you CAN do, is go anti-proton for your build, and put the 360 anti-proton beam array in the back, which will then make using a target subsystem ability perfectly fine and you do not have to wait to get the Cutting beam
Ah, yes. I do plan on moving over to AP damage when I get the EC to do so :P The only reason I'm using polaron is because I had a couple of Polaron DHCs and a very rare polaron tac console laying around, heh.

Also, is the Solanae shield worth it over the Reman one I currently have?
The Solanae 3pc gives you a nice hull heal, so it's worth it.The Reman Covariant has a high cap, but otherwise it's a TRIBBLE shield with no res. Running 2xEptS is redundant, if you can afford some damage control engineers, which allow to cycle two different EptX. I think greens should be between 50-100k, sometimes blues are between 100-200k, which isn't that expensive i think.

Noted, thank you. So should I get EPtW2/E2 and keep EPtS3? EPtS3 really does help with survivability, but I guess with the hull heal proc on the Solanae 3pc will do it for me... while I deal damage.

You also have a Torp skill, but no torps: here is a build that should easily work just fine
