How light sensitive are Remans? We have Slamek constantly complaining "It is too ... bright in here!" even at night in "Coliseum". We have Reman patrons in Club 47 saying "It is too bright in here, but the drinks are good." But how bright is "too bright"?
I recently played my Reman captain through the Wasteland missions. I put her in a hood and protective eyewear, figuring that would be appropriate for Nimbus III. Now she's running around on New Romulus. Should she still need protective gear? Bearing in mind individuals will vary, do we have any evidence on how senstive Remans are?
What I have never understood is why the Remans that want to go offworld couldn't get hold of some "Transitions contact lenses." While I'm not sure they've come to market yet, the product is definitely at least under development IRL, which means by the 25th century it should be absolutely commonplace. That would solve the problem simply and unobtrusively (as long as said Reman didn't have a major problem with sticking foreign objects in his/her eyes!).
I always assumed that my Reman captain was wearing that kind of contacts.

Except I think Reman skin is also extremely sensetive to light, as well as eyesight. Also, they where slave labour under the RSE, so they wouldn't have those resources.
My Reman captain wears protective goggles/lenses any time I beam down to a daytime planet. I would say for the sake of flexibility and variety that Remans can adapt to surface light over time, and wouldn't need to wear goggles indefinitely, but they prefer darker environs whenever possible.
My Remans keep the lights turned off in Engineering. My captain has hit his head several times, so now he stays on the bridge and just yells back to the Engineering. (Scimitars...worst bridge ever)
As for planetside, my Remans always wear hoods and goggles. Like I told them to do. *raises his pimp hand*
Obisek doesn't seem to have a problem with bright light during the cutscene when you beam into New Romulus the first time. I guess that just means the depiction in STO is very inconsistent.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Maybe it's not Remans as a whole, just Reman miners.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

even in nemesis the remans have always been sensitive to bright lights, they were born and raised in caves to work for the romulan war effort by mining minerals needed for the war machine, sometimes some remans get out and become guards and notice they dont have a problem with how bright it is. it maybe just living in a cave for so long with poor lighting has effected most generations of remans. giving the remans a place to stay that has more light then they are used to, they may adjust.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
