I'm kinda pissed after checking all the available dreadnaughts in sto. Whenever they're romulan of kdf or uni-faction such as jem/voth, they all got better tac boff slots. The fed dreadnaught has a lt tac max? What the hell? isn't dreadnaught a warship? For the love of god and trek fans, please add a ltc tac or universal to the fed dreadnaught. I cant see the fed dreadnaught anything but a slow moving tanker which totally pointless in STO. I want to fly the fed dreadnaught. Make it more competitive with other dreadnaught in term of dps.

The Fed Dreadnaught while separated is a nimble, fast turning DPS ship. So I think you need to look around the threads here for the various builds people have posted. You may have to build it differently than you had initially thought, but it can do DPS just fine.
But now it's an ubership because it now has a hanger with squishy shuttles and upgrades that require gimmick consoles to use!!!!!!
/Sarcasm
In all seriousness, the point of the Federation Dreadnought having a Lt.Comdr, Tactical BOff slot has come up so many times since... forever, it's rather obvious that it's not really something that's going to happen in the near future. I'm still holding out, because maybe it'll happen. Maybe, once Cmdr. Tactical slots become manditory on all other ships, the Fed Dread will get it's Lt.Cmdr Tac.
There's really no need for further tweaks. What they created with the ship is competitive enough.
You seem to have missunderstood. The Dreadnought is fine how it is right now. Is it great? Well, it can be in the right hands and with the right builds.
I was making fun of the fact that the "buffs" that the Dreadnought recieved are either so very Cryptic of Cryptic to do (slapping a hanger on it [yes I realize that Dreadnought Cruisers are defined by Wep Eff. Attract Fire, Dual cannons, and a Hanger]) or require one "debuff" themsevles to use the good "buff" (thus putting it behind a gimmick which must be bought on another ship). Do note, I have all of the current Galaxy versions, and had them well before this reboot, and had access to these "upgrades" from the get-go.
Personally, would I like to fly my entire ship to get the best out of it, yes. But can I fly it the same way I've always flown it after this reboot, yes.
Well the OP obviously missed Borticus' post about the ship. It's a cruiser and it's not getting a Lt. Commander Tactical slot. Devs already addressed this. So I just provided some links so that people could make use of what is there. Since it is effective.
I have to say, I found the Galaxy X revision to be a very pleasant surprise, and a very unique and fun ship.
There are some long time users of this ship that were initially viciously disappointed that they weren't getting a Lt Commander tactical or universal BOFF slot, and I initially agreed. A lot of them, and I however, now agree that this ship is more than the sum of its parts, and is far better using it in practice than it looks on paper.
I was planning to get a Galaxy X just to get the cloaking device to put on my Avenger. I've never been a TNG/Galaxy fanboy, so I never had a horse in the race where all the fanboys are complaining that their favorite, the Galaxy, isn't the most powerful thing in the game. It's ironic to see those people mock people for asking for T5 Connies, as the Galaxy fanboys are doing the same exact thing with their silly requests. Anyway, I said TRIBBLE it, and got the three pack of ships, and I'm glad that I did. I can't believe what a surprisingly enjoyable ship to use this is. I think that if you want the ship, the three pack is the only way to go.
It isn't a dreadnought in the same way the others are. It's really a one-of-a-kind ship, and if you think of it that way, I think you'd find it very easy to enjoy what it has to offer. That set bonus gives a +2 to turn rate, which is very significant. Flying it with the saucer separated, the saucer pet is very surprisingly effective in combat, and you can turn like an escort. Your carrier pets and saucer add more DPS to the fight than you'd think. The wide beam lance is pretty damned devastating, and the BOFF set up is great for tanking and being a very effective Auxiilliary to battery beam boat.
I thought I'd have this ship just for fun, and still just fly my Odyssey and Avenger, but I'm shocked at how much fun it is, and I find I'm using it as much as the other two. It's a really cool unique ship, and if you have the cash to spare to get it, I'd really highly recommend it.
Of course, if all you want is another 80 zillion DPS vape ship with gamebreaking design, I guess you should move along. Or, if you want a highly unique and fun cruiser with a flavor all it's own, give it a try. With an open mind and experimentation, there is a ton to like about it.
"I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am."
Well the OP obviously missed Borticus' post about the ship. It's a cruiser and it's not getting a Lt. Commander Tactical slot. Devs already addressed this. So I just provided some links so that people could make use of what is there. Since it is effective.
Technically, it is a Dreadnought Cruiser, along with the Voth Bulwark Dreadnought Cruiser. (As stated when Cruiser Commands were released.) And I remember that post stating that the Fed Dread would not get a Commander Tactical BOff slot (which, quite frankly, I think is silly to ask for, considering the fact that a Dreadnought Cruiser is still a Cruiser in the same way that a Battlecruiser is still Cruiser and a Flight-Deck Cruiser is still a Cruiser. Just as all types of Science Vessals are defined by their Commander Science BOff seating, all Cruiser types seem to be defined by their Commander Engineering BOff seating).
As far as I know, there hasn't been anything on the Galaxy-X being allowed to have a Lt.Cmdr. Tactical slot or not. Though, do correct me if I'm wrong, because quite frankly, I'd like some official word on the matter.
Aye, there are some good builds out there, and people should use them.

While never a TNG fanboy either (Kirk all the way...), I am officially in love with this ship! Not to sound like a broken record as I have said this in other threads but honestly, I have been coming out as one of the if not the top damage dealers in PVP and regularly getting 3rd, 2nd and sometimes 1st place in various STF's. It may not look like much on paper compared to other dread's but Vampeiyre is correct, this is truly a very unique ship and worth the money, especially the fleet version.
This is all without the two piece set (which I do own) I might add! So yeah, like any ship in game, build quality is everything!
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." - Rocky Balboa (2006)
every day with this. this ship is built not to die it is not a paper cannon. now its supposed to be able to burst damage with the spinal lance that is broken and we pretty much get the finger when we asked for it to be fixed. now the new ability with saucer sep is nice and i have seen wide beam devastate small ships clustered together.

I dunno man... taking a look at the Fleet Sovereign, Excelsior. They're Cruisers. They get the full 4 Cruiser Commands. They also get favorable TAC/ENG Console layouts. They also get the much needed LtCdr TAC stations to bring more offensive strength. And they can hang as well as any other Cruiser / Battlecruiser in the game. If what you're saying is Cryptic's reasoning as to why the Gal-X shouldn't get LtCdr TAC station because it's a Cruiser, well... Cryptic doesn't know what the hell they're doing in developing this game more.
And the ships I mentioned do NOT need gimmick consoles to make them effective. Yet the Galaxy lineup needs to adopt consoles of questionable usefulness to reap some sort of bonus, a bonus that the base ship badly needed to be inherent to begin with.
Good ships do not need gimmick gear to make them effective.
However, the Excelsiors and Fleet Sovereign still can do the exact same duty and function, yet still have the LtCdr TAC station to make it that much better.

Yeah i'm eating crow now. I was one of the player's complaining about this update. But now that i own the fleet version i'm having a blast with it. Running it with the solanae set and mk 12 phaser weapons and i just got the leech console. Hull strength is over 61k. Having a blast in stf's and borg encounters. Make sure you pin the saucer to your ui so you can transfer shield strength if you need to. It hasn't got blown up yet. But even though it can use cannons i wouldn't. My fighter pets do that and so does the saucer. It kills things so fast with pets and saucer sep. Just wondering what slot to put the leech console in. Should i give up a tac slot or put it in place of an engi hull plating console. Crow taste nasty by the way.
if you equip it with the universal saucer seperation console from the galaxy class retrofit ship, the star drive section when seperated becomes a fast, incredibly nimble attack ship capapable of out turning ANY cruiser and a lot of escort ships. not to mention the saucer section keeps and does fire the phaser lance, not to mention while seperated the star drive section gains a wide beam phaser blast ability that's like firing a huge shotgun at an enemy ship.

Matt Johnson's build does ok.
Or if you really want, just do over 30k Deeps with this build.

End of story.
yes, it is, but a dreadnought is NOT a battleship, a dreadnought is designed to not die. ever.
which if you play your dread right, will be the schtick of your boat.
That seems to be an extremely common and very popular build for quite a few ships right now. Not sure why people have a beef with that.
