STO Keybinds Tool

Did Cryptic change something about the way keybinds work!? I've been using STO Keybinds for quite a while; but recently I noticed key binds are no longer executed in the right order (traybars, from left to right).

I'm not liking this at all. Anyone else have this problem too? Or better, anyone have a solution?

Thanks.

(N.B. Yes, I know, you're a bad*ss PVP-er, and cycle everything manually. But I'm not, and still like to see this fixed, please).

I PvP and I use keybinds... I'm still badass.

I don't know this particular app you've linked to but I'm going to hazard a guess that it's a third party app sending keystrokes to the game. If not please disregard the rest of my post.

I'm also going to assume that you've switched to Arc recently.

If both of these are the case then yeah, you'll have problems, Arc seems to run within some sort of bubble/virtualisation when compared to the normal STO launcher. I can't make sense of it, but there we are.

LOL. So you're asking for help to "modify the game" which, incidentally, violates your TOS agreement with PWE Entertainment, on the game's own forum boards? Nice! That's something you don't see everyday.

The funnier part to me is that the Hilbert Guide has one spamming the spacebar--and the OP needs a tool for that?

thats kind of a lowbrow approach to keybinds. you just bind your heals, buffs, and debuffs and all to a single key to pound away at... and youre the one talking smug? lol nublet

Maybe, but the 'Bind it all to 1 Key, via Ingame Keymapping' is using internal (and thus 'allowed') means. Using a Tool that sends Toolbar commands isn't.

Don't flaunt your ignorance, k? Key binds are a perfectly ligit game mechanic. All STO Keybinds does is generate the text file with the keybinds for you, so you can load it in-game.

Ignorance runs rampant in this thread.

Keybinds aren't just executed in consecutive order: they need to be executed in a specific order (typically, left-to-right, followed by an inverse right-to-left sequence), so, in game, traybars will just work from left-to-right.

For instance, it matters to have DPB3 be executed *before* you actually deploy your mine. STO Keybinds generated a file which did this properly; but the game itself seems to have changed the execution order somehow.

Nope; no keystrokes are being sent. All it does is generate a text file, that you can then load in-game regularly. The took exists, because the order matters, and is not immediately intuitive (see my last post above).

So, yeah, any non-trolling key-binders experiencing the same thing?

This is a perfectly legit question on how STO apparently has changed things. And, frankly, I can't believe I'm the only who has noticed it.

My Saitek software seems to work ok with the built in macro tools.

However, you do need a slight delay placing for each key press, about 0.3 to 0.5 seconds depending on what you are trying to do and how fast you want to do it.

I've experienced the issue you're talking about. I blame activation timers. If you click the keybind too fast, some abilities are entered in the activation queue but not given enough time to activate with the next stroke, so they're skipped. This might give you the impression that your keybinds are no longer respecting order but that's not the case.

It's frustrating that keybinds are like that but it's working as intended. As far as I can tell/I'm told.

Thank you! Finally a reply I can use. :)

Seems more than just a timer issue, though, as it just to work wonderfully fine, until recently (not sure exactly since when, as it probably happened a a bit before I noticed).

    Don't PvP, and I don't use keybinds.

However, some posters have pointed at delay in activation and I wondered if your connection to the server had acquired a little more lag than you're used to.

Which may interfere with your keyind activation timing enough to throw things out?

My, that sounds like a cute gadget. :) What is it called?

I can imagine getting tired yelling "EPtS1!" ten thousand times in a row, though.
