So now that the number of viable builds inclusing science and enginearing team has multiplied. Can we get the Bridge officer slot limit raised a little?
I keep a big old spreadsheet of ships, officers and builds to maximize the number of usefull combernations I have avaliable to me, and when Deflector Duty officer Doffs were fixed the current bridge officer limit (54) became just about enough.
However now that Enginearing team and Science team are desirable I need more.
The Boff slot limit is no problem if your a one ship one captain person. The standard number of boffs is fine for a few good builds for a single ship.
But once you start running three or four ships, in two or three configurations each... and start accumulating a collection of older obsolete vessels which you never the less like to swap into from time to time... and you start buying expensive doffs which open up the possibility of new exotic build options....
And once you start buying the boff slots it becomes habit forming... you could always use a couple more... and then you hit the wall... I need more slots man! I need my fix!
I wasn't, but then Cryptic gave us cheating Rom 2.0% CrtH Embassy boffs, meaning I had to just about double my crew (and no, I'm not gonna get rid of my old, loyal, human crew).
C'mon, Cryptic, you already gave us more ship slots: now it's time to up the boff cap too!
I suppose Boff slots must reserve a lot of storage space. If increasing the number of Doff slots isnt on the table the only thing I realy need are more power combinations so some sort of alternative training slots they could switch too would meet my need.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
In the games current state. You have to be rich to do this. do not get me wrong I have the max on a tac toon that does strictly tactical builds. Otherwise you need to repec a lot. All my ships I gear towards tac. I have Tac boffs setup one of few ways. Usually for my escorts I make sure I have Boffs with APO3, APB1, APD1, BOL3, CSV3 once I have Boffs with thes I they will get BOL1, THY1&2, TS1&2, TT, CRF. Just my Tacs I have probably 10-12 in various iterations. Most of my ships are escorts or cruisers. As for the other powers it will be EPtX x2 ands HE and TSS. Now if there is a special sci ability I will gear it towards my skill tree not vice versa. If I want sci heavy tac toon I roll another toon so that I can gear my skill tree towards that. Another reason I have so many is if I see one with a level 3 power that is not in use now but could see buff I keep it. I have a couple of Beam Target Shields and Engiens 3 Boffs, VM 3, Aceton 3 (lol), etc.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
Its not as difficult to reach the current bridge officer limit as you might think. with an exchange rate of 125 dill to 1 Zen your only looking at 3.25 days of dill to get 2 slots.
If you have 4 characters you could even get two slots in a day.
You don't set out to reach the bridge officer cap, you just one day find your at it, without ever realy intending to be there.
And given that the performance gap between some one who has taken captain skills to 9 investments and some one who has taken them to 6 is rarely more then 2% (0.2% in some cases) the advantage of specializing your captains is only ever going to be noticeable when you parse.
Therefore buying bridge officer slots is actually the poor mans option. Investing in ship modules, duty officers, rep and fleet gear, lobi and lockbox ships all becomes prohibitively expensive over multiple characters, and that's not even taking into consideration the extra time spent on things that cant be bought, grinding fleet marks and reputation.
It would still be nice to know if we can expect a bridge officer slot limit increase in the foreseeable future.
If not that's fine. But re-training my bridge officers to optimize all my load outs is a sizable undertaking that usually eats a large potion of a day off work. I would rather not invest the time only to have a slot limit increase announced the next day.

Buying bridge officer slots is the cheap way.
