Are the weapons on the Dyson ship weak?

masterbraytacmasterbraytac Member Posts: 11 Arc User
Apparently I'm missing something. I have the new Dyson 3 pack combo. I have also gone straight Polaron with my weapons. However, when I highlight the weapons, they show that I am only averaging 560 DPS!!! And that is with 3 polaron consoles at +26.0 percent boost each!

Are they actually that weak? Also, it has an option for extra damage, but no matter who I'm fighting, the extra damage is always at 0.

Now, I know that this has probably already been discussed and resolved. However, this forum is just too big for me to find it. so I thought I'd just ask.

Please help

Braytac

All energy types have the same damage, the only difference is what the secondary effect is.

Then why is the damage showing as only 560 dps? if I use the same exact thing in plasma weapons, my damage shows over 1000 dps. Why does the damage on the Polaron show so little damage? Is that a display issue, or is there there an actual difference in the damage Polaron weapons are doing in the game?

Are you using any conosole/set/rep/set abilites that could be increasing plasma damage. Are they the EXACT same color and secondary add ons (acc, dmg, etc), the same mark (like Mk XII)

Are you a Romulan character using Romulan boffs/doffs, are you using a Romulan/Reman equipment set? In other words somewhere getting a passive trait that buffs plasma weapons?

    Oh Hell NO to ARC

Plasma Weapon Specialist only works on the ground.

Also, are you looking at the Polaron weapons in sector space or in system space? The latter is where your listed DPS will be closer to correct.

Also, how are you measuring the DPS?

If you use certain parsers they will give you an "aggregate" DPS, so one hit from a Plasma weapon that actually Proc's will show a higher value than a single hit from a different energy type, due to the Plasma Fire DoT effect.

However, Polaron, due to it's -Power effect will only show the initial strike, but the roll on effect on following hits, can be devastating, and far out way the Plasma's DoT.

i use Phased Polaron DHC's on my Avenger, and even with just Blue XI Exchange consoles (cant afford Spire ones ... yet) and the XI JemH Space set, I am far out DPS'ing many other ships (including geared up Scimi's and Mogh's ) over an entire STF ... (and NO, most of them aren't new or bad pilots, some are veteran players)

It mostly comes down to setup/loadout/Boff/DoFF and making sure your gear has good "synergy" as well, plus (and most importantly) your own skill and playstyle ...

I admit I play PuG's at least, a little selfishly, though the Phased Polaron Dual Proc. (like the disruptor proc) does benefit everyone, I tend to fly more as a "Mobile Artillery" platform, so I will concentrate on Single Targets, and because the alt is an Engi, I can facetank pretty much anything, including Voth Dreads and Tac Cubes

Without all the buzzing about like a deranged mosquito (that some do) you can lay down significant damage on one target and due to the Polaron Proc, over time, it will weaken the enemy much quicker, where as if your running at x4 speed everywhere, your Defense is higher, but your only hitting the enemy with all your power 20% of the time, because of weapon arcs.
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh

Try going into orbit around Qonos/New Romulus/ESD and checking there. If you are on the ground or you are in the sector space (galaxy map) your stats won't generally show correctly.

Also, that may only be the individual weapons base dps. Consider that you have 5-7 other weapons that each have their own dps contribution.

As others have said, you may want to run a damage parser, such as ACT, and look at your damage output in a combat situation.

    Good luck.

Different energy levels in different ships, perhaps?

    probably this.

My Protonic Polaron DHC have around 1440 dps, and my Proton DHC have 1530 dps at 125 power.

There really should be no difference as most are saying. I do not have issue with normal Polarons or Dyson ones as far as damage. If your weapon power is really low it will make them very weak or if you are on the ground or sometimes even in sector space it will lessen the appearance of their damage.
