After like a month of avoiding the forums and 2 weeks off sto I'm back! So I'd like it if somebody can help explain the changes that happened leading up to the new forum location and any other changes I should probably know about.

    Don't read any thread with 'Galaxy' in the title for your own sanity :D.
    Or threads about the new layout - it boils down to the forums and website being reconfigured for ARC (as with all other PWE games).

    JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

    I typically avoided galaxy threads before but I guess with the new changes it must have gotten worse.

    If you want to be able to use the forums without a headache, Eradicator84 has a plugin that works pretty well.

    In-game, the Galaxy line got rebooted, and the players are calling for Gecko's head because he didn't fix the graphical issues, didn't fix the uselessness of the phaser lance, didn't fix the entire line's boff seating issues, and made the fleet Gal-X significantly more powerful than the equally expensive fleet Gal-R.

    So there are a lot of people howling for blood.

    Tacofangs and the art guys fixed the KDF costume bug, at least for most people, so they deserve a hefty promotion. They finally removed the global cooldowns for Sci, Tac, and Eng team boff abilities, which tripled my ESTF survivability instantly.

    In a nutshell, Gecko has the PVPing Galaxy fans out for his blood, and the other guys are just doing their normal jobs (although normal for the STO dev team is like the best week EVER for most MMOs).

    We now have a buttload of free storage space, which has made my life MUCH easier, and the new literary challenge is up (it's redux 3.0).

    That's about it.

    Not sure if you were still here when it happen, but there is now also a ship swapping feature (so you don't have to run all the way back to shipyards to do so and is only used in social zones like sector space) as well as loadouts (so I can now switch between using all beams or cannons/turrets on my Gal-x).
    Member since November 2009... I think.

    Welcome back!

    It seems we have a bunch of new threads popping up that pretty soon gets bundled into bigger threads, so:

    The Arc "feedback" thread is that way, the DOOM thread is there and the rest is here I guess. :P :)
