Problem with short characters.

markdbmarkdb Member Posts: 75 Arc User
I wanted to create a "grey" alien, so I made a toon that was as short as possible. Short legs, arms, and torso. When I tried doing the save the Azura mission, I couldn't interact with the first console to stut off the steam. I wasn't able to progress past that part of the mission. I had to leave the mission, and go back to esd to make my character taller. Devs, this glitch really should be fixed. What's the point in being able to make a short toon, if you can't even progress in the first mission?

I have several small characters myself, and have run into this problem.

The quick fix solution is to jump on top of any consoles. That always solved if for my tiny alts.

Another solution would be to make a backup outfit that is taller, and switch between them when needed.

    Hope this helps!

Yup. This works, but when I did not find this at first a while back, it frustrated the heck out of me.

But this currently is not working for me. I play shortest all the time, but my toons have a 'hidden' tallest alt-constume so that every once in a while I can one-up the condescending fastards. Guess what, my toons are kdf. I cannot change customs currently :(

Dude, is made as intended, if your toon is so small, is completely normal that u cant reach some consoles.. i dont see the issue. Besides, anormal size players should not be allowed in the game lol, they look awful. I know a smaller guy could be just fine, but i see sometimes guys that are not even bigger than a rock, seriously, how can someone enjoy those toons??

I tried jumping on top of the console, but the interact button only showed for a second. I wasn't able to click on it. I thought you could only switch costumes at a tailor. How do you do it doing a mission?

Right-click on your character icon in the top left of your screen. Hit "change outfit". Select one of the options.

I run a short, pot-bellied Ferengi myself, I know your pain!

Rightclick your character status box (top left by default) and select Change Outfit. You can switch to any of your slotted (note: different to "saved") outfits.

There used to be a picture here, but they changed signatures and I can't be bothered to replace it.

Dude, if you can't say something nice...

Some people just like making really short toons. In the same vein, I have a character (Nemesis unit designation Three) in-game who is 6'8", and actually once ran into a clipping issue where the top of her head hit the top of a door in a ship interior map.

And my Gorn is over seven feet tall; he runs into that aaaaaaaaaall the time.

So be nice, and don't pillory people for enjoying the experience of playing a short character.

Really? You think they shouldn't be in the game because you think they look awful?

    ...really?!?

Thanks everyone. Now that I know how easy it is to change costumes, I'll definately use that if I have this problem again.
