Season 9: Suggestions For Devs?

rock3tmanrock3tman Member Posts: 143 Arc User
So I would like to put forth my suggestions for the upcoming Season 9 and would should the players out there have ideas of there own just stick em here:)

Maybe one or more of us suggest something the Devs might not have thought of or forgot?

So I shall begin first:

1. Should the Intrepid line be rebooted it would be wonderful to see the Aeroshuttle put into action. Its a type of Danube Runabout specifically designed for the Intrepid class, see here for more details
>http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Aeroshuttle

The nice thing is that the Aeroshuttle is canon so shouldnt be hard to implement.

2. Next would be the Dauntless class ---> http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Dauntless_class

Now to me this is probably one of the most amazing looking ships I have seen in Star Trek, I absolutely love the design! I think this is a must for Season 9. Perhaps it could have a Boff layout like the Vesta and obviously with the Aux cannons hehe. I dont think it should have a hanger slot cuz it size is on par with the Intrepid?

Maybe the Dauntless class could come with a special Slipstream console that boost slipstream in sector space considerably! Making it the fastest slipstream ship there is seeing that it was the first (although not entirely Federation in origin). And maybe in combat it could slipstream to any desired location in or out of combat on the map??

These are just some of my suggestions, I'm sure many of you have yours, would you like to share? Post em below :)

I believe someone said that season 9 has already finished development and is just awaiting release. Just putting that out there. :<

Agreed but that should go to the "Bugs and Glitches" section of the forum, just saying :)

    Great suggestions, rock3tman.

But yeah: Season 9 is already locked down, being prepared for release. (And we get more Tim Russ/Tuvok.) :)

Make me wish Season 9.5 = special event/new faction-based story/bug fixes (including the Galaxy ship issues, as pointing out by the community); Season 10 = major event(s)/story release(s)/more bug fixes.

Personally, I want to see something new done with Andoria. (Such a waste right now...)

Plus the introductions of Betazed and Tellar in a new sector area.

OP, you do realise that devs do not even look at these forums often and ignore most, if not basically all, feedback.

I can agree with u on Andoria, my character is Andorian and it would be nice to visit one of the capitals such as Laikan etc and have things to do there

And yet the possibility remains that someone from Cryptic might read this and take the info back to the Devs.

Possibilities dear one, are always present :)

I'm in full agreement, and I've even posted about it elsewhere, but they should really take a season off before launching Season 9: The Search For More Money, and really give the game a solid Quality of Life pass. Part of the issue is that they're adding all of these things, often incomplete and unfinished, but they're not going back to fix things or update others. It's like they're adding to a building using newer technologies, but their not reinforcing or fixing the lower foundations. The more they build on top without updating everything else, the more issues it going to start having, and that's exactly what we've been seeing every time they add something new.

    They seriously need to:

    A) Update the ships: All of the models are visually not as great as they could be, but in terms of power creep and function, most of these ships aren't worth the price they're asking. They need to be brought up to speed with the newer ships and content, or considerably dropped in price.

    B) Character Customization: This needs a complete rework as well. They need to go back and finish all of the skins to be full body, they need to add more sliders from CO, so we can better balance their appearance: Like muscle tone. We need an actual Character Creator 2.0, not just a new UI and more bugs. Facial expressions would be nice as well so we don't look like we're all dead inside, like PWE is constantly trying to make us.

    C) Improved Gear: Not new gear with slightly better stats to grind for, but an actual better quality of gear. What they have now is often a bit TRIBBLE, but at least they're giving us the option of custom kits soon. I think that they should really take this a step further and allow custom visualization of kits as well. Most of the tac kits look terrible passed the earlier marks, but they need more variety as well as versions for the Romulans and the KDF. Cryptic seriously got lazy here, and it's about time they fixed it.

    D) Actual fleshed out factions: Let's face it, the Romulans are an enhanced playable species, not a faction, and they never have been. The Klingons have never really been much better either, constantly being left behind by Cryptic. The Three factions, need to be equal and fully functional factions, if cryptic can't do that, than it really has no place making a Star Trek MMO or ANY MMO for that matter. Just look at how bad they let poor Champions Online get.

    E) Bug fixes: this is important stuff, and if you can't handle it, that's a good sign that you're doing something very wrong. We understand that you can't get them all, or that new ones pop up, we get that, but letting them go for months or years, is ridiculous, as is how many they're just letting slide.

    F) Quality: This game really doesn't have a lot, especially not enough to justify the price tags they're putting on everything. They've been shooting themselves in the foot with that phaser for so long, they're hitting nothing but the deck. If they were to actually care about the Quality of this game and the IP, rather than just trying to grab as much money for as little work as possible, people would gladly throw money at them. Instead of trying to scam or cheat money from the fans, take the time to make it worth the money and people will gladly hand it over.

There really is too many things that they're doing here, and too many things that need to be fixed, so for now i'll leave it at this (or i'd run out of letters) but seriously Cryptic, go back and fix things. Update the things that have been outdated since launch, use this time to actually add some quality to the game instead of just shaking it for money.

Sorry, but if the 600+ page thread full of different ideas for the Galaxy was basically ignored, your idea has no hope.

That may be true that they didn't do what the people wanted in that particular thread, but that doesn't mean that they ignored feedback. Saying they ignored feedback is ridiculous at best. How do you know that the devs ignored the feedback? did you see a dev posting saying that they implicitly ignored the feedback? If they didn't say that, then you have no idea what they did with the feedback.

Season 9 suggestion: Release the entire damn Season, no 9.5 or 9.25 or 9.36954915564756.

I agree with all that you say, especially the ships needing a re-do, for example the Vesta has missing windows and things that shouldn't be here and there, the flight deck is too long etc. One would think that with all the pictures of EVERY starship out there they would make them correctly.

Im not just talking of the Vesta but others too, many others! I see it as a slap in the face to Mr Roddenberry cause he took the time to detail his ships, actual models with the most intricate details! Why cant Cryptic do the same, it would be far easier for them anyway, just a few clicks here and there, making sure the windows are ALIGNED CORRECTLY and other odds and ends.

Another Season 9 suggestion: Release the rest of Season 8 (particularly the Voth Contested Zone)

I would love to see a revamp of the Need/Greed/Pass system.
Far too often can you see someone clicking nothing but Need in a large fight.

This could easily be prevented by adding a "penalty" to the roll if you roll three or more Need in a row.
For instance if you click the third Need in a row then you would get a 10% penalty on that roll, fourth would add another 10% penalty and so on. The only way to get out of it would be to roll three or more Greed or Pass in a row.

Something like this would at least prevent a lot of the "ninjas" who only click the Need button.

Suggestion: Finish Season 8 before dropping the steaming pile that is sure to be Season 9. Let's not make the Voth Zone into the next Defera Comm Tower.

    Three things.

    1) Fix the godsfrakking Foundry!

    2) NO PvP Leaderboard. I saw on STOWiki that one was planned to be implemented. I vehemently oppose turning this game's unbalanced PvP into a competitive sport; that's the day I leave PvP.

    3) Any bugs that haven't been repaired, please take a look at them and finish fixing them.
