Star Trek: TOS missions should be introduced into this game.

Hello,

I am sort of new and am starting to learn more about star trek. I have seen few episodes from the first series and I was touched. I liked the characters from the U.S.S. Enterprise which Capt. Kirk and Spock take control of. The rest of the crew kind of made there appearance in this game but was hoping to encounter them more often.

This all started when I played the Klingon Wars chapter. The Doomsday Device and Past Imperfect were 2 of my best favorite missions to play. Why? Because 1. The famous Enterprise ship 2. Epic characters and 3. It gives you a strong feeling like you watching the series.

Not only that, It brings you closer to the star treks intensive action along with the original characters.

I wish to say more than this, but I made my point.

Best Regards,
Alliedcommander

Thanks for reading my thread. o7

Well main problem ... it's 2409 not 2260 ... but there are already some Time-Travel Missions ... Past Imperfect (Spock), Night of the Comet (Scotty), Everything Old is New (Bones) ... lots of Costumes, Ship Interiors etc ... you also might wanna check the Foundry for stuff like this ... (Spectres, Episode 6 i.E.)

Constantly running into Kirk, Scotty, Bones, ~100 years after their death would be rather silly, though ... (it can't be all Time-Travel)

You'd also have to get permission from Shatner to use his likeness in game.

A key thing to remember here is that STO and its missions actually touch on pretty much all eras of Star Trek.

Uniforms from almost every era are available. The influence of the Next Generation is literally all over, as most of the big powers around were introduced in TNG. Deep Space Nine is solidly represented with the Dominion and the station itself. Voyager has recently shown its impact with the Voth and the Hirogen-not to mention the Undine-and even Enterprise, while not as heavy (yet) brought up the monastery at P'Jem, along with the Kumari-class ships.

TOS is an important thread in the tapestry, but all of the series and movies (yes, even the JJ Trek, given what happened to Romulus) affect what we see in the game. If you're only getting into Trek now, you have a terrific trip ahead.

One thing we have a lot of in the Foundry are TOS assets. We have uniforms, NPCS, tables, chairs, consoles etc as well as TOS Constitution interior and bridge maps and the TOS-style Drozana station.

So, want more TOS stuff? Make a Foundry mission.

(BTW, I have some KDF missions that are Holodeck programs set in the TOS era. Feel free to check them out by searching for [HoloHistory])

The campaign missions where you time travel to the TOS era are some of the most enjoyable and atmospheric in this game.

I will certainly check out the foundary now. :)

You could have some classic mission from the TOS Period like Balance of Terror or the doomsday device (not the current one) and it be very interesting. Or the battle scenes in STWOK ......

that does not work, the game is not recreating any of the battles or episodes, it is creating new stories.

I honestly had the idea to make a whole TOS foundry mission line that just pretends to be the TOS era and expects the player to use the Connie (may be even the NX) and TOS costumes.
Same for Enterprise era missions (just without the Connie part, just the NX here^^)

No "Time travel" or anything involved, just ropleplay as the 22/23 cent character.

But I'm pretty untalented with the foundry and didn't even get map to work sooooo....

We already have several missions that involve time travel to the past and missions that take place in Trek's TOS timeline.

There shouldn't be any problem creating more time travel episodes/missions in future seasons of STO.

In fact, I could easily imagine a new enemy in season 10 or 11 that tries to go back in time and rewrite Federation/KDF/Romulan history ... so players (depending on faction) have to go back to the old TOS era to save a FED Constitution, KDF K7, or ROM BOP from destruction while not being discovered by the crew and contaminating the timeline.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

It's only been like 40 years since their deaths, at the latest:

Bones was an Admiral in 2364 (Encounter at Farpoint), Scotty got stuck in a transporter buffer and survived until 2369 at least (Relics), and Kirk was killed by a rogue bridge in 2371 (Generations).

    ;)

Your point being ? ... they're still dead ! ... the sad part is, Scotty might still be alive, but "James Doohan" isn't ... would love some "Scottish" (Canadian) VO ...

PS : not gonna argue about when/if Kirk died the 1st time (111 years ago) :P

As much as I don't like the idea of a T5 Connie (it shouldn't be a thing), I wouldn't say no to more time travel missions going back to 2265 or whatever, or even the possibility of using a Connie in a mission, like the Ambassador-class Enterprise-C in Temporal Ambassador.

    That would be AWESOME.

Yep, new stories that we run over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again......
