Sometimes in ESD a new player will hit VA and ask zone: "Where is my free ship?" I do not see many instances of RA-UH players asking what the deal is, and sometimes I see claims that Admirals-are-Admirals-are-Admirals which is why your last free ship is at RA-LH. Players did get a token "back in the day" and related changes are addressed
here) and (posted
here with teh latter duplicated
here), draw from that content what you will, but it does not really matter "what used to be" - what matter is "what is and can be".
What I propose is a way to overcome the "end-game disparity" where "achievement" does not provide for a "reward" in the form of a new rank and a new ship. We shall achieve this by introducing a single mission for promotion that rewards a token for an "appropriate ship". Where do we get the missions and the ships you ask?
In the distant past some players have suggested that the 2nd Anniversary mission be injected into the game, even going so far as to make it a "VA"-promotion mission. Due to the precedent Cryptic has set with "recycling celebration missions" I propose the 2nd Anniversary mission with slight alterations (to rewards and how it is assigned) would provide for "the mission" element.
As for ships - the fleet store's 200.000 fleet credit ships, which are
not "Fleet" ships, are appropriate only requiring their pricing schedule purchase options to change.
What about the Romulans? No reason they cannot use the 2nd Anniversary mission for their faction. No reason Cryptic cannot "introduce" (recycle) appropriate ships either.
What about the fleet-store? Old Yeller is not losing any teeth with this.

Thats the Odyssey and Borta prototypes, if memory serves.
They're in the fleet stores, so thats probably a no go.
However, if you meant the third year anniversary......the Ambassador retro and the KDF one, then maybe you have a point.
The fleet versions are better, so dosn't step on their toes.
Most of these 200k fleet credit ships/anniversary ships (in many cases the same ship) suck so hard. Take the Aquarius destroyer, for example... People will start to complain about the downgrade when they hit VA.
But that is, by far, the worst example.
The free oddy and the T5 Ambassador are decent Fed cruisers.
The ambassador, in particular, is a nice sci-based cruiser. I still fly it on one toon, and will only be replacing it with the fleet version.
I think the free gift Dyson Destroyer has been retired now in favour of the three specialist Dyson's so maybe make that a free ship for people reaching rank 50, I've just started using mine and it is a very nice ship yet not overpowered to the point that I'll never want to purchase a different ship to use.
If Cryptic cannot use 200.000 fleet credit non-fleet ships as token rewards for VA promotion then they definitely will not use the retrofits you mentioned as that would go against statements they made about the content having a limited-frame-of-availability.
Retrofit ships "suck so hard"? Corner, now.
If the Support Cruiser Retrofit is a science based cruiser then the Advanced Escort and MVAE are science based cruisers. As the latter case is false the former case is also false.
That aside, the Support Cruiser Retrofit does have solid Bridge Officer seating.
The anniversary Dyson is being dumped into the Lobi store for some period (unless it has already been taken out) so that may be too far removed from more "average" content. However - if they did put effort into a VA-promotion mission outside of recycling the old 2nd anniversary mission (which arguably would fit in a "2408/9" mission story line better) then the Dyson ship would be entirely reasonable.
This is about the time a moderator warns you for trolling.

So you barely understood the subject and did not read the original post.
See noblet in the corner?
You, other corner, now.

OP apparently confuses consensus with comprehension. The other guy doesn't need to agree with you in order to demonstrate an understanding of what you've written. Try another counter-argument.
Because I said the VA-token does not buy you the top of the bill? Don't think so.
Actually, the Free VA Ship Token is already in the game, as its a part of the 600 Day Veteran Rewards for 'Gold' status subscribers...

This makes it highly unlikely another Free VA Ship token will be added to the game...
He's running out of corners to send you guys to.
This right here. Beat me to it. I enjoyed my VA ship. Then I got to know the game a bit more and decided to get a ship I actually liked and could fly with some skill.
*looks around the room* This room appears to be a geodesic dome. I think there's lots and lots of empty corners.
