I second this - the channel has produced some great teamups. Have found that I wind up in a team with players whom I've teamed up with, through this channel, previously and am getting to know their 'play-style', which is always of beneift.

And whilst we did have an instance of KSE with a failed optional earlier today, this really didn't/doesn't bother me. The whole idea of a team is working together, so if the optional failed, it was the team's fault. But I SINCERELY doubt it'll happen often - it's early days for the channel, and it will all fall into place in time.

Im curious reyan01... what is my playstyle? I ship hop a lot but I think I usually am more on the Defiant and as much as I play the escort role I find myself throwing out heals as well. I just love the sound of the quad cannons! ahhaahhah...

That failing the optional thing has never really bothered me even before as it's only like 15 marks. I shouldn't have popped the 2nd generator which triggers the cube to warp in and I should've called in for support earlier. But the synergy working with you, Sol & Zachery has been coming together nicely when we are on at the same time.

I must say tho I have fun swaping ships back and forth and even considering getting the fleet Akira on top of the fleet Defiant & Gal X I just got as I love using them.

Oh boy. Other than two of my characters, all of my other ships already followed your guidelines.

Not sure what that says about me. Other than I really am kind of a stickler for phasers on my fed ships. And haven't really gotten around to grinding tons of MK XII weapons on my alts. And I kind of have a default setting for torps for so long that it's now muscle memory and feels weird if I don't have the 2 and 4 buttons linked to front and rear projectiles.

    heh.

I've been playing STO for around a year now and I've upgraded my captains and their ships with almost every bell and whistle available. I've PVP'd and PVE'd through all the content multiple times, so things were starting to get repetitive and stale.

I'd like to say coming back and flying with a squadron from STB has been reinvigorating and a blast. Feels almost like playing for the first time again. Taking a standard commissioned ship that I was given command of and fulfilling my duty as an officer.

Jumping into the chair of some of the screen legend ships and having the challenge of using everything at my disposal is why I came to the game in the first place. No more chasing after that DPS carrot so I could plow through content by building some Frankenstein of a ship that would never exist.

I look forward flying alongside my fellow captains.

Charge the phasers load the torpedoes and good hunting.

    Mr SOL!

Let me tell you something my friend. You were one the first individuals who have really helped me develop in the game. You answered all of my questions and showed me the ropes.

I have had the extreme pleasure of flying along side you. We have fought many a borg chasing this DPS carrot and for me the only thing that made the battles enjoyable were fighting along side my friends, flying along side you.

The last couple of weeks have been just nothing short of AWESOME. Having been flying these legendary ships the way, IMO, they were meant to be flown has been an beautiful sight to see. The way that 5 ships look coming about to line up the torpedo tubes then unleashing a full volley of Quantum/Photons looks and feels right... it feels like Star Trek!

The bonus/best part is having you back in your captains chair, flying along side you again laying waste to anything that comes before us. I am all but happy to have you part of the STB squadron and hopefully our squadron grows to have more captains fly along side us.

I would like to thank all the captains I have flown with this far and only look forward to more!

So I'm trying to get my Akira set up to as close to the shows setup as possible within this games allowances. I know that it was a very torp heavy ship with a devastating frontal barrage and the ability if not singular one of being able to fire torps from the sides, which I was able to emulate with the 180 degree quantum (only 2 points more damage than a mkx blue, so fits okay I think in a STB build). Now I've looked around, but couldn't find whether it had the ability for aft torps.

If any of you other Trekophiles have the answer please let me know.

IIRC, the Akira used beams onscreen too.

Sounds like fun, I'll have to dial back weapons and such a bit, but that's easy enough with some EC expenditure, quick question, is MACO gear allowed, I'm running as close to a 'canon' galaxy as the game will allow, and that pretty much demands AMS, Saucer Sep. and the 3 piece MACO thanks to BOBW.
    Either way, Handle is @thunderhawk101

I enjoy this kind of thread. It's like farting in the air to fight the wind. It's poetic, childish and completely useless.

Well let me first say that your Akira is looking SICK!... makes me want to get the fleet version but having the free in game one is taming that need.... for now.

I as well use the 180 quantum on all my STB builds as I like the way it looks when being fired from broadside.

Well, havn't been on for the last couple of days, but was on this morning, and ran a thouraraly enjoyable Fleet Alert with Reyan this morning. I think we may have destroyed Subspace there though. Just went on, sadly nothing going on there, so looged off again.

Thanks, invite sent and to answer your question you can still use high end sets and the reasoning behind that is for survivability. We can try going just regular drop MK X gear but what I think what would happen is we would pop too easy in an Elite STF which means longer respawns which would result in a failed optional.

With having MK X weapons and high end sets we found we are finishing in good time. Definitely not short but not too long either.

Try it out and see how you feel about it.

It might take a while to get more people interested. It says there are 40 users of the channel but people seem to be busy with their grinding or with friends which is ok. I mean as long as the idea catches on, it seems that there are people running their ships like this anyways so if there is an already established group/channel/fleet let me/us know as we have some players in STB who LOVE the idea of flying the ships how they are meant to be flown.

I love this concept. The game needs more Star Trek in STO. Too quickly it is becoming a generic space shooter the further away from canon we get. Its an argument that I've been having in RP circles repeatedly as of late.

Thank you for trying it out, hope to run some more stuff with you.

The amount of content and daily grind one must do to get certain things really eat up your time so although having 45+ users it's only been a consistent 5 sometimes just 4 who use the channel during the time I'm on.

My hope is I get to fly with more captains.

    Thanks

I'm definitely interested in this. It really is a great idea to organize a group focused on this content, if only because most people can say they've reached the phase where they throw caution to the wind and go completely canon. Heck, I did it with a Mirror Universe Star Cruiser and played through as many story missions as I could.

    @handle is username, @caasicam.

Can't wait to see everyone there, probably will be flying my Dreadnought Cruiser.
