MVAE Revamp

I know this has probably already been said before but I wanted to put my own spin on the idea. Right now for me at least the MVAE while a good ship could be better still. Maybe its just my preference for the Advanced escorts layout over the C-Store and Fleet variants that had me brainstorm this up.

All stats are unchanged for the ship only the Boff seating would be tweaked.

With the release of the Dyson destroyers and the ability to change a ships boff stations I feel that making the MVAE have a larger variety of abilities available to it would be interesting to play with. It would allow players to change their role on the battlefield to whats needed most at the time.

Another feature some fleetmates and I discussed was something to help make MVA mode something you want to be using besides just changing boff seating so we came up with this debuff while MVA mode is active.

Overwhelmed Defenses
When MVA mode is active players target gets a 15% debuff to their defense rating (only works in certain circumstances. The limits on this are as follows to get the full 15% debuff both vectors must be alive, if one is knocked out the debuff is cut in half to 7.5% and if you lose both the debuff doesn't proc. Debuff also only works against mobile targets (ships) any stations and structures will not be debuffed. While the debuff is active there is also a 1% chance on a CrtH to knock out a single subsystem for 5 secs with a 10-15 sec CD. (May stack with phaser proc)

To make something like this more feasible I think a UI window similar to hangar windows should be added to all ships that can seperate to track the health of your pets. An improved AI so they stay near you 3-8kms all the time and focus fire on your selected target would be nice as well.

Also the enhanced seperation mechanics should be added into the MVA consoles code as well. No more of this stopping and painting a huge defenseless target on your back.

I'm probably forgetting something else but I believe my main points got in here. Thoughts and comments are welcome. Flames will be used to make S'mores.

    There is nothing wrong with the MVAE.

    The MV Console has uses and the cooldown reduction has been lowered maybe 6 months ago or something.

    The BOFF seating is advantageous. Has always been since the Prometheus was first introduced. Whether you wanted to use that LtCdr SCI for survivability or other means, it was a very nice option to supplement the strong TAC arrangements.

    She has a very respectable turn rate at 16, while the Defiant is 17. This can be pushed further with MV Console modes.

    Really, the only gripes people have had with this ship are those that:

    1. Don't know how to survive in an Escort that only had Lt ENG BOFF seating. Same people with issues staying alive on a Defiant.

    2. Annoyed greatly by the MV Console Cooldown.

    The first one is alleviated by thinking out of the box and fly the ship fast and aggressively. The second has been fixed by Cryptic long ago.

    The Prometheus is one of the solid performers for the Feds since its introduction. It has never faltered in that capacity. I'd say that, after the fixes to Grav Well a few months ago, the Prometheus shines even more now.

    - Side note: If you have the Fleet Credits & Dil and sufficient Embassy access & level, you can throw 3 Rom Embassy TAC BOFFs with Superior Subterfuge into the mix. That's alot of extra Crit rate & severity boosts. Defiant users get another option of throwing in an Embassy BOFF into either ENG or SCI that has Superior Subterfuge. That will take the decloak dmg bonus from 15% to a whopping 30%.

    I'm sorry if I am misinterpreting your reply but I have no real problem with the current MVAE other than having to stop to separate the ship. What I was trying to do with my idea was to make the MVA mode something players will want to use not just a throw away feature as it is now. While it does have its uses you can get by with out it on your ship just as easily as if you did install it.

    interesting proposal, i like it. im interested in seeing that station swapping applied to all separations and transformations. the unseped ship with 4 LT stations, and the sep versions getting a LTC and ENS, great idea. i was trying to think of a way to eloquently revamp the ship like this too.


    sure, the MVAM is 'fine' as is and all, but any escort without a battlecloak feels like its got an arm tied behind its back

    I think the MVAM needs a makeover. The Prometheus is supposed to be an uber-ship but the seperated parts are far from that (and why has the beta section cannons and not the alpha section)

    Each part needs more and Stonger weapons. You might think thats OP but exactly that is the purpose of the Prometheus, 3 equally strong ships in one

    I made a similar post about a month ago but only got negative responses. I like the idea of each section being different and would totally like to see this on the Haakona too. Right now, there's not much incentive to change modes, but if it actually changed the ship besides a few different stats, that would be awesome. I don't like the idea of giving the MVAE a universal station though.


    Anyway, great idea. :) hope it catches on :)

    I would love to keep pets that are not fighters closer to the main ship as an option. I like the other ideas too.

    The MVAE escort is a perfectly fine (in fact more than fine) ship. The Gal-X on the other hand will probably still suck even after the revamp, that's how bad that ship is.

    the galaxy X was fine too, but it got a hanger, a 4th tac console, and a universal ens.


    these days fine seems to mean comfortably inferior to one of any examples of warbirds.
