Which Vesta Build would you choose.

Which Vesta Build sounds the most fun/effective/interesting? There will be no hard facts on skills/loadout here. This is just pure speculation. I have a number of ideas floating in my head, and as the Vesta is SO VERSATILE I just cant pick one. So im asking you Captains for help.

1. Particle Generator Build: A build focusing on pumping PartG as high as possible doing damage mostly through Tractor Beam Repulsors (with pull Doff), Hitting enemies with Eject Warp Plasma (as they are tractors), and when TBR/EWP is offline, throwing out a Gravity Well with a TorpSpread of the gravimetric torpedo for even more Particle Damage.

2. Protonic Drain Build: Using a standard drain build (Energy Siphon, Tykens) with the new Protonic Polaron beams, the sphire tac consoles, and Experimental proton array and set. Standard draining fun, but also building for higher crit chance so beams actually do decent dps with the proton procs as well.

3. Tactical Anti Proton Build: Throw everything into making this a Tac Boff heavy escort wanna be. Sci Boff is used for healing powers only. Load it to the teeth with Anti Proton DHC's and Turrets, New Vuln locator consoles, and the 2 piece omni plasma beam + obelisk warp core for more AP damage.

4. Suggest a build.

Please note, that while some of these maybe just pure "toy builds", I want them all to atleast be good enough to participate in STF's and not be a total liability in PuG PvP.

Thanks for any suggestions guys.

Okay as a disclaimer: I never play PvP, so with that in mind (and/or with PvPers to add their critique away)...

Option one sounds the most fun to me. My Fed Sci's in the Vesta three-pack and has a build based on lots of fun sci stuff with some heal capability (the build's on STO Academy http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=ussverona_6195). I've built her with a bridge and space duty crew that allows for various loadouts as well, primarily through swapping the Lt Eng to include Eng Team 2 or Emergency Power to Aux 2, and the Lt Cmdr Universal for other tactical, science or engineering skills depending on mission requirements.

The most important thing for the Vesta's science abilities is in setting the power level defaults, so that weapons power setting and 'balanced' power setting both have shield and engine power levels the same, but that 'balanced' throws power into aux, and weapons into weapons (obviously). The Vesta's three consoles and the aux cannons need that aux power to be high for damage to be meaningful, so e.g. when the enemy's shields are down, you can have decent aux power available from that power setting, plus you can hit the enhanced plasma manifold (console from the Oberth Class adds 33 aux power which is very handy, even though it's got a long cooldown of I think 4 minutes or something), and the Emergency Power to Aux, and that Quantum Field Focus Phaser can do some serious damage (this setup gets aux power close to 125). Then once it's all spent, power back to weaps and broadside with the 4 phaser beams and torp till the science skills are back. You could go without torps, but I'm a traditionalist and ships without both energy and torp weaps just don't do it for me personally.

This is probably something to really consider though with the Vesta: the ship itself is flexible in boff layout and has better baseline stats over those of the Intrepid Retrofit so is a superior ship no matter what energy damage type you end up going for, but if you're using the Quantum Field Focus Controller and/or the aux cannons, you're best off with sticking to phasers for to benefit from any phaser consoles you add.

    Hope this helps!

I'm currently working on a build that is cross between your options 2 and 3. I have kept the sci functions of the vessel but have switched over to the AP weapons and fleet options. It is a work in progress as the vul consoles and Obelisk hanger pets are next on the upgrade list.

I've got my vesta set up for gravity well spam and plasma torpedo chains. Its not the highest dps ever but its lots of fun to light up warp core breach chains while vomiting torpedoes at the exploding mess

    I use this build

Dual A2B and TBR3 gives me 15-20k dps quite easily. Viral matrix and yellowstone runabouts help in disables whilst TBR helps decloaking ships and provides your main source of damage. I stack Embassy PG consoles to boost pg and plasma Dmg of my Romulan plasma beams. However, this build is too expensive to build.

For my other alt, as cheap starter build, I also combine Tyken Rift 3, Energy Siphon2/1, and subsystem targeting using Omni Antiproton beam to shut down enemies. I use obelisk warp cores to achieve an additional 5 pints of auxiliary power, which boosts 400 dps per aux DHC as well as other science abilities. Also, Energy siphon provides lots of juice to achieve optimization in Aux phaser DHC and normal rear mounted weapons, as I can easily get w125, a135 power

My vesta is a bit of a combo between 1 and 3. It is a CC/Healing boat but still has cannon:rapid fire and the Aux DHC's so it can do a pretty good amount of damage.
