I haven't seen any chatter lately on the Steamrunner and I have a simply put question:

Is this ship still a good one to be flying, or has something better that wipes the floor with it?

(also, any talk about a Fleet version in the future?)

    I should mention the ship I've been happily flying lately is a Fleet Avenger.

    The steamrunner is still a beast. It already has 10 consoles and high hull and shields so no fleet version.

    They're both good ships, but they're different beasts. Avenger's an engi/tac cruiser so it's slower and a little more defensive, but it has cruiser commands, and the quantum VATA can put up some nice numbers and make great siege weapons. Steamrunner's a tac/engi escort, so it's more tac-focused and more natively capable of dual cannons*, but it lacks self-heal capabilities compared to the Avenger (specifically, it only has an Ens sci slot, meaning you're basically locked into HE1).

    * Not saying the Avenger isn't capable of using DCs effectively, just that it's trickier. I run mine with an aux2batt FAW build.

    Steamrunner's a bit of a niche since its kinda odd to obtain it, so i'm not surprised it doesn't get mentioned often

    In fact i think its the only ship that can't be bought with in game currency ( correct me if i'm wrong and theres some other way of getting it)

    I wish I could buy a Steamrunner with my boat loads of dil. :( Such an iconic canon ship and it's powerful to boot. I have to make do with my Akira running a bastardized "zepher" look just to achieve a poor mans Steamrunner.

    I'm unsure what FAW means, but I do run both ships with 2 aux2batt and officer cool down reductions.

    Personally i love the look of it but moved to a chel gret as it was essentially a direct upgrade form the steamrunner.

    Steamrunner Retro Fit -> Breen Chel Gret

    Hull
    34,500 -> 36,000

    Shield
    1 -> 1

    Fore Weps
    4 -> 4

    Aft Weps
    3 - > 4

    Devices
    2 -> 3

    Consoles
    Tac
    4 -> 4

    Sci
    2 - > 3

    Eng
    4 -> 3

    Turn Rate
    16 - > 13

    Bridge Officers
    Commander
    Stays Tactical

    Lt. Commander
    Tactical -> Science

    Lt A
    Stays Engineer

    Lt B
    Engineer -> Tactical

    Ensign
    Science - > Universal

    The breen ships has one more weapons, more hull for a slightly decreased turn rate. The reworked bridge officers seem heaps more useful as well. Enough tactical slots for cannon build with attack patterns and GW on the science officer.

    Oh and i have team fortress on any ship so i don't need the steamrunner active to use that nice console.

    Love the Steamrunner. It is pretty tanky for an escort and is one of the few that can run an ATB build, if you are into that.
    Yes you have to go through steam to obtain it, but it is then an account wide Fleet level ship!

    "Fastest ship in the galaxy. It's the ship that made the Vega Run in less than twelve parsecs. I've outrun KDF starships. Not the local bulk cruisers mind you, I'm talking about the big Bortasqu' ships now." Kappa

    Steamrunner/Blockade Runner is a pretty good ship and is a very strong competitor with the other endgame escorts. Not much room for a science captain though. Lacks both good science boff ports and console slots. But hey, its still a beauty of an Escort!

    Better looking than the Avenger, to be sure.

    Steamrunner is good ship for Tactical and Engineering officers. You can run her like a normal escort (DHC / Turrets) or you can run it with A2B beams. I prefer the beam variant myself, on my tactical officer. It's a fun boat to fly, and it's unique, since Steam is the only way to obtain it. That console it comes with is pretty slick, too.

    they always felt like a tank version of the fleet defiant, not quite the firepower, more staying power. Great ship overall

    Its a descent ship but I say this one is better overall ship as far as tanking goes http://sto.gamepedia.com/Fleet_Heavy_Escort_Carrier

    It however is one of the better escort, I'm honestly surprised i see more defiants then it. Considering it has great ship layout better then the defient IMO. Only down side is one less tact console.

    I wonder if there will be an Arc-Class Ship with Arc for something like an Arc Pack or something.
    I would love to visit this star in-game...or maybe this one!

    The real way to use the steamrunner is with aux to dampers. If you're a good enough pilot to handle the speed and turning that comes with it, you can fly circles around almost every other escort, to the point where ships not built to keep up with you are reduced to cheese kills regardless of how powerful they actually are. It's a ridiculous build and just the fact that the steamrunner's boffs are perfectly suited to it make the steamrunner an incredible ship. With any other build it's just a regular, run-of-the-mill 4 tac console escort.

    Basic setup:
    Aux2dampers x2
    2 different EptX1 of your choice, probably S+E or W+S
    obligatory hazard emitters
    tac however you like your escorts

    2-3x damage control engineers for EptX cooldown
    matter-antimater specialist for A2D if you can afford it
    ^ if you have this and don't mind 7 seconds of downtime you could use 1 A2D and fit RSP

    +1. An a2d build on this ship is crazy fun.
