Help surviving Elite The Breach

strykerhawke86strykerhawke86 Member Posts: 27 Arc User
I'm looking for some help with survivability. Any suggestions for equipment layout would be much appreciated. I'm flying a patrol escort right now. I have mark XI of the borg set, omega, and maco.

Here is my current build:

Any suggestions for weapons to use, shields, consoles, ect. I'm looking for survivability here. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

    Swap the RSP for Aux2SIF.

Also shoot from and stay behind bulwark ships, that subnuke will hurt.

Also don't engage all the turrets at once on those outer nodes, hit maybe 3-5 at a time so as to reduce the likelihood of too many crits causing boom boom times.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

Its actually worth carrying Science Team when you're playing with the Voth. And maybe an APO for the tractor beams. Also, since you're already carrying the Proton console, if you swap that Quantum for the Gravimetric torpedo, then pop off your spread3, fuuunnn things happen (plus you'd be able to drop the torp console for another AP Mag). Lastly on doffs, I'd go 2 Conn Officer (to reduce Tac Team CD so you only need one copy, plus boosting your Attack Patterns skill), then a couple of Damage Control Engineers to let you replace one of your EPTS with either EPTW or EPTE, and even blue-quality should do the job.

Contrary to popular belief, -threat consoles are the key for squishy escorts to survive against Voth, unlike for tholians. It's closer to borg than tholian. Both tholians and voth spam faw, but for voth, the faw isn't what's killing you, it's the grav well spawned on top of you right after subnuc. Only primary target that has aggro gets it. Voth faw has lower dmg, don't burn off shields as fast, and far lower accuracy. If you're not aggroed, you can evade some beams and tank the rest in an escort.

    For starters,

    - You absolutely *must* replace that Quantum torp with the Gravimetric Photon Torp, as you're wasting the whopping 3.0% CrtH bonus, together with the Dyson Particle Generator.

    - Also, I'd ditch the Refrequencer, and replace it with a Plasmonic Leech.

As for defense, like bpharma said, try and stay behind the Bulwarks and Citadel.

The betas debuff like crazy; but if it's much better survivability you're after, I'd go with an APD1/APO3 pair (with 2 Zemoks), and upgrade that 1 copy of CSV1 to CSV2 in the process. Or just simply APD2/APO3. Then you're looking at, at least, +20 perma-resists.

EDIT: Also, if you're an Engineer, reserve spamming your Nadion Inversion until that mean Voth actually starts his drain: Nadion mitigates the affects of *external* drain too (up to 65%, iirc).

Thanks, I'll retrain some boffs and look for the doffs. I don't have the gravimetric torp yet, what suggestions are there for a torp? Would the rom plasma torp be good?

Rom plasma torp is great; as is (still) the Omega one. But only the Gravimetric Photon Torp (or the Experimental Proton Wep) will give you the +3.0% CrtH together with the Particle Stabilzer. It's only a measely 500 Dyson Marks. :)

    Above all else, this!!!

I have a better time taking the side paths. I pass the node then come from low and behind. Behind so the Bulwark cant nuke me and low so all the turrets cant attack me at the same time. Always keep an eye on the Bulwark and stay behind it. Once you're done with the node, move on to the next. The Bulwark does not count for any progress or optionals, so leave it behind.

Taking the side paths are way better than the middle. There's more Nodes and they're easier to get behind without aggroing the Bulwarks.

Doing this I've survived Breach Elite in a non-fleet B'rel and every other ship I've used.
