I've been wanting to put together a beam kumari for a while, but haven't the time until now.
Looking for advice from ppl familiar with dual beam banks. The plan so far:

It's an established old char, all gear available except red matter capacitor. At least one -threat console is mandatory, everything else open to change. Build is for pve. Thanks.

BO would run into cd wall while cycling faw. What's the rationale for having it? Why is cycling betas an abuse of the ship?
the build itself is logical in its self...just the idea to use beams on it bothers me. It's like THE cannon ship in the game.
turnrate is ideal for cannons, the +45 degree on the DBB have no advantage on this ship over DHC.
it's definately a 10k and more dps build, it can probably rival the same ship with DHC.
if a setup like that beats a similar cannon setup constantly in terms of encounter dps (ISE run) then you know that beams are overpowered (lol ,never imagined i'd say that)
honestly i think it is on the same dps level as a cannon variant.
Escorts are more geared towards cannons and hitting with fast, explosive, knock out attacks.
Beams are less explosive damage, more steady, and with the slower cruisers, a good way to ensure DPS anywhere you can't turn to face.
I suppose with the better turning rates they'd be able to do awesome broadsides, but still I think beams are best suited to cruisers, and cannons to escorts. Not stopping you, just saying.
I've got a c-store Avenger battle cruiser. I moved into that ship and transferred my romulan plasma beam arrays from my Odyssey into the Avenger.
I'm wondering about putting a DBB in front to replace one beam array for use with Beam Overload; I had read recently that was the best way to take advantage of BO since once it fires on one beam weapon no other beam weapons can benefit.
But how do you make sure that after activating BO that the DBB gets the buff and *not* one of the normal beam arrays? Do you drag the DBB ability to a tray and activate it manually?
Also, if I decide to *not* put cannons in the front of the Avenger can I put 5xDBB up front without any issues?
With BO you have to 'pick' the weapon you want and fire it alone, or the buff will go to which weapon is ready to fire.
As for the Avenger, I would go 3 DBB, 1 Torp and 1 Array; even with Beam Arrays in the back you'll have about 10 degrees on each side that you can't fire at if you go all DBB; which is where that Heavy Torp will come from at the wrong time.
Cannons on Avengers, Moghs and Romulan Dreadnoughts are possible, if you can jack up the turn rate enough. A mix of Fleet RCS and Fleet Hull plating with +Turn will help. Also the Advancedd Scimatar Systems the Rommie Dreadnoughts have a +2 Turn as a 2 set bonus.
Beams are the safer, easier route to maintain DPS, as well as focus on +Res and + Hull HP consoles. Cannons are riskier and harder to use, but the damage output can end a fight in seconds.
You clearly have not run into *my* FAW/Beam-scort...
