Oh, and I just started my new fleet "Soon TM", don't know yet about advancement...
I call it, the Stoutes paradox.
I am in a 2 man fleet. This is my progress so far.

The biggest thing that is hurting fleets is the refining cap. When my Development t3 upgrade that came out I had the doff fm, provisions and doffs filled in 2 days. My dilithium requirement took 1 month to fill.
With channels like NOP Public Service you do not even need to provision past t1 on anything because you can get an invite to a fully developed bass. The only thing we have problems with is access to high tier ships.
I also have the unique perspective since I have one toon on an alt account that is a high ranking official in the Fed Alliance fleet. They are a fleet of 10+ fleets. I know what issues these large fleets have as well.
Personally I prefer The week end bonus dilithium over the hourly mark event. At the end of the day I think what would be most ideal is split the mark event and make a seperate fleet mark event and leave it hourly and leave the rest of the marks as a week end event.
If you want cheeks in seats you need to have something during the week. Even restaurants have their best deals on tue./wed. in the mid week since that is the low point for sales.
Primarily I am a small fleet person and I am there by choice. If you want to talk further about it then let me know. I'm @Rob_mc_1
Would've been funner to actually build that base- minecraft style than the current Starbase grinding. All work, no fun. And we really would like the fun.
Step Between the Stars: It's 11 Accolades, not 10. :P
It was a really good episode, though Tuvok's dialogue was at times Admiral Obvious. But I like the randomness they are exploring with new episodes, to give them a bit of longer life. Though at times it had the negative effect of the intention when accolade hunting. You wanted to go left, but always got the right. Or going for the Efficient Swarmer accolade as a Science player, wasn't fun since you didn't have the benefits of turrets or Security Teams (well free ones at least). And of course them confusing Solar Prominence with Solar Flares and Brown Dwarf stars being brighter than it should've been. But I'll leave that to Neil DeGrasse Tyson. :P
Hope you get well soon man!

New players to this game have greater incentive to join a large fleet for the ships and gear at their start. And its hard to blame them. "Why should I join this small fleet with 10-25 members but lacking all the cool gear?" The answer is: there is only a social element. If you know people in a small fleet thats your incentive. If you're new and know no one, a larger fleet means you get to know more new people or at least more access to knowing more people WHILE getting the awesome sweet gear.
What I honestly want from Cryptic right now is: at least one (1) season of NO NEW FLEET HOLDINGS. Give small fleets a chance to catch up a bit please.
TRIBBLE Hydra! Hail Janeway!
