I'd just like to take the time out to whole-heartedly thank Steve for taking that captains chair and making loadouts a reality. We have been waiting for this for years and it's hands-down one of the most incredible platform additions we have been yearning for so thank you again!

PS - Will you marry me?
May good management be with you.

Have some Federation Faith my dear friend! They already put in small shuttle PVP. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that the PVP revamp isn't coming. ;)

Meh to the PVP. I will echo the OP's sentiments and thank the DEV team for making this a reality. Any and all improvements are appreciated.

Ummm... This was already in development before he took over as community manager. And even then, it was the development team that made it, so shouldn't we be thanking them instead? Thanking him for something this early into taking his role is like blaming a president for an economy crash (or anything else) after only 3 months into their first term. (Or in this case a few weeks.) But then again, Americans do that anyway. :D

Unless the guy is a Wizard, he had nothing to do with the loadouts.

    Two things:

    1) Apparently he took over months before it was announced.

    2) While I don't know his role in this, he is Chief Technical Officer. He is actually a programmer (unlike Stahl and Zinc whose backgrounds are more design and management focused.) He personally coded a lot of the Foundry. He contributes to the game code for all Cryptic games. I recall hearing that the idea to move forward with this was one of his first big calls as EP this time and he may have been hands on in programming it since he remains CTO and apparently does code for the game some.

I believe that most of the developers are not programmers. They're designers who make small mods and design art assets, maps that rely on database changes. Basically, changing values on a a very large spreadsheet, with or without frontend tools. D'Angelo is one of the guys who is qualified to mod the game engine itself. So that's a plus, even though I'd imagine he's too busy to make personal modifications all the time.

(However, Stahl himself created some missions and I'd imagine D'Angelo himself may make programming tweaks. He does stay busy managing 50 people on STO, though, while also supervising the programmers on Cryptic's other games.)

Hmm, well I didn't know many of those things, so thank you for the new information. However, if he actually did code most of the foundry, then I'm definitely a fan. The foundry is easily the best part of this game. Endless, non-repetitive content? In a game of grind that's a god-send. Especially when the missions in it are more trek-like than anything the developers have put out.

Actually if you guys listen to podcasts.. at all(where they come on and talk via interviews), he was credited with being the button pusher for a lot of these forthcoming platforms.

So here, here and less fear.

After the absolute disaster his f2transition was ans basically still is he will need a lot more then a 4 year late basic feature that doesn't even work right to give me "faith" in anything related to d'angelo.

I'm a no fan boy, until I see them pull their pants up, fix the bugs in game on a more reasonable time table, and start putting a little more content into the game, since they continue to mention their dev team has expanded to some degree... ill just watch from afar, and if things do improve then ill give them a pat on the back and say great job.

Till then.. ill pet my white cat with my metal spiked hand MUHAHHAHHAHA

The 3 year drought of nothing but muppet theatre was very sad, agreed. But D'Angelo has only just warmed up his seat in the captain's chair. Loadouts work and save as they're supposed to. I'm not sure what you're talkin' about to be honest. If you're one of those folks who don't understand exactly why you can or cannot pull certain items.. That'll come with familiarity.

    @ Marhawkman:

YES! More love on the foundry but these PVP guys (myself included) we need that revamped and it's comin' :)

    Time will tell.

All I know of this guy is a recent interview that said he was unhappy with the Dyson content because it was too quick and easy to grind through. This of course could mean many things, hopefully that STO needs more diverse content rather than a little bit of easy grind. Of course it could also mean he intends to put players through serious grind in the future.

In any event I can't be patting him on the back just yet, let's see what he brings to the table.

If I'm not mistaken , he was in The Chair when S.5 Emblems-to-Dil transition fleeced a lot of players via the ratio of "the more you had , the worst you got f-ed" , essentially punishing ppl who played more .

If I'm also not mistaken , he was also in The Chair when after the Hear of Hell , the first truly new content rolled around (Nukara Ground Invasion) -- which was then taken and put behind the first iteration of the Events Calendar , that made the new content available 2-3 times a week (at best) , but only @ specific hours (good luck with that) and earned the first time I felt some true hatred for the disconnect of the Devs with the players , and the nerve of the Devs for pulling something like that on top of the Year of Hell .

    Fast forward to Now :
He's also in charge of removing the Fleet Marks Bonus hour from the Calendar , to be replaced with "weekend Events" that according to D'Angelo , he want's to make "rare and anticipated" .
In short , you loose once more .

So ... , the dude may be a tech ace , and he might have his #$%t more together then dStahl , and you're welcome to jump the gun and worship him all you want , , but like the Tin Man , he sure gives the appearance of missing something truly important ... . :(

This, plus the fact that the loadout feauture is a basic "out-of-the-box" feature for other games in the genre and suddenly it's supposed to be an epic improvement and sign of his dedication to the community? lol.

By and large, i'm not overly impressed by his reign thus far - for me, it's been permeated with bad decisions, as far as i'm concerned; the Grindiversary being the chief one.

That being said, it's not the first time D'Angelo's stepped in as top dog and unpopular decisions start being made. I only end up wondering whether he's making these decisions, or whether they're wheeling him out to take the blame for them, because odds are they were made way in advance by Stahl.

So no, no love here yet. A kit revamp, an exploration revamp, abolishing the uniform split, adding the rest of the Constellation-class costume, adding more customisation options to Captains, Boffs and Unique Boffs and ships and fixing the marauding Boff - all of these would go a long way to changing my opinion.

Otherwise, it seems to me to be a case of "new boss, same as the old boss".

If D'angelo is responsible for making loadouts (and saving the skill tray in particular) a high priority, then I thank him.

It's still buggy though but at least it is far better then what we (didn't) have before.

Cute.. Zen isn't the merit of why I started the thread. Feel free to browse through my posting history as you'll see I've been just as disenchanted and vocally oppositional to some of the non-content as most of these negative nancy comments in the thread have been. I do however retain my sensability to project thanks where it's due even if some of the other folks can't get over the Stahl tow line of thematic pump vrs actual platforms.

But isn't that the merit of character? Being able to put aside pride and prejudice to foster something that's actually a good change (for a change).

Of course, I couldn't speak for everybody, they have no problem speaking for themselves even if it's filled with pure speculation like what I read prior.

What I'm hearing is much more solid than we've ever heard thus far and I'm willing to give the guy a chance (even if some have forgotten that part of their humanity).
May good management be with you.

I'll start praising after he starts lighting fires on the behinds of those in charge of quality assurance. The BUGS are relentless ever since the introduction of LoR. Loadouts mean squat, if it brings additional BUGS in the long run, no offense.
