Dilithium EV Suits are Overpriced?

mightybobcncmightybobcnc Member Posts: 3,354 Arc User
I should preface this by saying I have no interest in the EV suits in the dilithium store, but wow 300,000+ for a suit that has inferior stats to other suits that are completely free? Even the fleet holding special projects are only 200,000. I think Cryptic needs to reevaluate the price of this forgotten vanity item since free items are now superior to it.

Perhaps they are that price because they do not want anyone to buy them? :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I'm pretty sure it's a joke made by Cryptic. It's a Ferengi ship selling overpriced items. You could get the orange one free during the first week DIL mining came out.

The joke is no one wants them because they're so overpriced. Only weirdos (and fools) would buy those.

Back when they were the only suits availible other than the freebies that were in the old style, I did see people wearing them as vanity items

But since then, Why would you use them, of course your not gonna buy one

They are just a few of those forgotten things that haven't been fixed yet. At least they made the C-Store EV suits vet rewards and they do look nice IMO. Maybe they would have sold well if they had come with a costume unlock. I think for the longest time I used the free one I got from the Dominion FE series.

Looking at the 300K dilithium EV suits the idea that Cryptic ever thought they would be vanity items worth 300K dilithium is mind blowing. EV suits are not a big part of this game to start with and there are comparable suits available for a few thousand EC on the exchange. That being said if I had a billion dilithium and those EV suits were the best ground armor in the game I still would not buy 1 of them.

I would have bought those if they weren't per character.
Well now I have them as a vet reward account wide so what^^

I'm sure if someone has that kind of Dil to blow. All power to them. However for my Bridge Officers I usually collect several from the Dominion/Cardassia missions. Then I usually get one from Nukura from those rewards. Which I give to my Captain to make them stand out from my other officers.

And I did. :D It was priceless seeing the reactions of people when I was pugging Nukara int Hard. Everyone wondered what it was and where I'd gotten it. :P

These EV Suits were introduced when there was practically nothing to use for Dilithium. They were the elite version of the regular EV suit, but now with far better EV suits available, they are completely useless.

You know, I noticed this, and how ridiculous the price was, even compared to the other, IMO, overly-high dil prices. I'm going to have to go with the people saying it's a joke. Even back in the day, I don't really see how this price could have been justified. Then again, that was before my time.

It's a novelty item. Simply don't worry about it unless you really want to be a "special" snowflake.

I think there's a little of this and a little of it just being a big TRIBBLE dilithium sink for those with money to waste :)

same notion as the KDF/Federation EVA suits in the C-Store that, surprise, also didnt sell.
They gave these suits for veterans because they put free ones to the new FE.

Go to the vendor at the back of Vlugta Mine where you talk to the Ferengi for the missions, the vendor is on that walkway (in case you don't know). But yeah they're immensely expensive for some ev suits...

This is one of those many unintentional running gags of MMO makers not paying attention to the realities of going rates and the flow and need of items value under the mechanics of their games.

Back when 1 zen would buy you 300 dilithium, these things just weren't that expensive.

I wish they would do something to differentiate the visuals between this suit, and some of the very similar Nukara suits. Really make that yellow pop! It's a great vanity piece, let's make it stand out!

At the time those things were put into the game, both EV suits and the dilithium economy were fairly new additions to the game. Even then, I always thought it was ridiculous.

    Now? Much, much more so.
You're right. The work here is very important.
