Can we have a slight change to the the default mode of the ship to be what it was before an event occurs. Such as:
you go through the gate - if the ship is in Tactical Mode it switches to Science Mode
you blow up - switches to Science Mode
Just leave it as it was, let me change to a different mode if I choose too.

Oh, and by the way you do know that the ship you use in the Mission is a C-Store model and not the freebie we get. It has 10 consoles and three special Universal consoles outfitted on it - just like you would get if you bought the C-Store 3-pack.

well, to be technical, it IS a science ship at heart, meaning thats what the default mode is, can you set the default mode for the vet destroyers? no, its the same thing here.

the game doesnt remember any state changes between map transitions, no pets or anything
The game SHOULD remember state changes when moving in mission between maps. At the very least between space map to space map. Doing things like launching fighters and getting them all up to 5 and then instantly losing them because of a map change sucks.
Inertia just means you can do Powerslides in you carrier!

Well we can get into a long debate about what the game SHOULD do. WYSIWYG and every single time they "improve" something, headaches follow, so it might be better if they left things well enough alone. The ship is a science ship first, destroyer second since you can't even replace the cannon with a gun of your choice, so it's natural that it defaults to science mode.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
