Closing in on Tier 5 of Omega Rep and I'm still somewhat undecided on to which rep set pieces I should get for my Scimitar and could use a little advice. Not going to go and explain every bit of my build but I will say I use a Beam/Cannon combo while not a min/max set up it's fun and allows me to always keep damage on target, BOFF skills focus on cannons/shield healing;
Weapons:
2 DHC (Plasma)
1 Quad (Plasma)
1 Rom Experimental Beam Array (Plasma)
1 Rom Beam Array (Plasma)
Kinetic Cutting Beam
Omni Beam
1 Turret (Plasma)
Consoles:
Plasmonic Leech
Valdore Console
Assimulated
Romulan Rep Console (plasma damage boost)
2 consoles from the Scimi Bundle for Thrusters/Cloaked Shields/Secondary Shields
I use the MkXI Jem'Hadar Shields and Engines for the moment and a Mk XII Positronic (sp?) Deflector that boost Shield Healing, Ship HP, and Shield HP. Sitting around 55k Hull, 10K+ Shields. Not part of a fleet so don't have access to fleet gear.
A lot of Universal Consoles I know but it works for me and damage output is not an issue nor is keeping my shields up, taking damage really isn't to big of an issue either unless I get gang banged during an ESTF by those phantom borg weapons. So my question is...what set, or mixture of the sets would probably benefit me most? I'm not to concerned with the set bonuses except maybe having something that boost over all survival / damage resist or Aux/Engine Power. Any input greatly appreciated.
Here is a quick break down on my view of the sets. High level. Others will add more color.
Maco - Tank
Borg - Tank
Adapted Maco/KHG - Boost to Torps
Omega - Shield Melt.
Here is a Suggestion on your build because I feel you are leaving a ton of dps on the table.. If you are doing PVE and want more DPS. I would skip the sets for now and focus on the following:
1. Romulan Beam Arrays Accx2 or Fleet Antiprotons Beam Arrays (This descision drives the rest of the build.) Dump the torps. If you go Antiproton you can keep the 360 Antiproton beam. Acc is great for weapons due to a concept call accuracy overflow.
2. Spire Tac Consoles (If you can get the provisions)
3. Get your DOffs Right. Marron, Technicians, Warp Core Engineers etc. Again others will chime in here.
4. Get your Bridge Officers Right. Want as many Superior Romulan Operatives that can get.
5. The consensus is that Fleet shields with BORG 2 part set for the Scimitar is what I typically see. I am an outlier and run Omega with the Romulan Engine, but I blow up a lot.
6. The Rest of you consoles look about right except for the Scimy 3 Part Set. Replace with this: Assimilated, Nukara, Zero Point, Embassy Flow Cap (or Tachemetric Converter and Bioneural if you have the lobi), Leach, 5x Spire Tac Consoles.
From my own experience, I've found the adapted maco deflector & engines to be the most helpful. The +8 Aux and the crew-death resist from the set bonus are useful in balancing your power levels to make the most of [AMP] (fleet singularity core). The crew death resist does more or less stop your crew from dying (throw in a nurse doff and you'll always have at least 50% crew alive during a scrap).
The maco deflector gives boosts to all your major systems (inc your thalaron weapon, if you choose to use it). I chose it mainly for the heals, particle gen and flow caps. The engines are alright, they'll help towards your [AMP] perfecting.
Shields should ideally be fleet ones, but avoid the maco one as that'll just mess with the plasmonic leech.
That's what I use anyways.

Do these things and you will be good.
