Exchanging Gold Pressed Latium etc.?

Hi All,

I sorry to ask this but I really don't understand how to get my load of fleet marks & Gold Pressed Latium or the many other merits etc.

I got lots of now exchanged into dilithium ore or zen even so they can be more useful to
me to buy the ship or crew upgrades I need?

I got lots of many types of these merits and GPL etc.

I just wish to know how id the easy wasy to change them all onto zen or dilithium ore as they are the main buying products in online star trek universe? :)

I've checked around the stations and bases etc. without much luck? :confused:

Also I have been selling my un-nedded weapons for the starships and batteries ettc. on the starbase exchange ok. But in my bank I have some of these weapons for starships and other items other players would need?

But although I move them from the bank to my inventory to then put them on the exchange like the others I have done and sold ok,

These ones stored in the bank which are normal ship weapons etc. will not show up in the inventory when I try to sell them in the exchange?
Or if they do show there they are darkened and I can't seem to sell them?

Any help would be great? :D

    To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a way to convert GPL into any other currency (except for the duty-officer assignments which reward a small amount of Dilithium Ore and (in some cases) Contraband that can be used in other Doff assignments for a pretty good amount of Dilithium. Fleet Marks are only usable on Fleet projects, which reward Fleet Credits, which are then used to purchase fleet-quality items, and cannot be directly or indirectly converted to any other form of currency.

    As for the weapons and equipment that you cannot place on the Exchange, chances are they are either bound-to-character or bound-to-account. Only way to get anything out of 'em is to take it to a vendor and sell it for what you can get.

    GPL is a useless (or 'fun') currency. You can buy holo-emitters for you or your ship, or trophies for your crew deck. It buys nothing useful. Sadly.

    I will just hope to get to use them as I go?

    Maybe I find a greedy ferengi who will buy at my small loss the over 20.000 Gold Pressed Latium I have got now

    ( 15000 of which I won on playing the ferengi game on the space station, on one bet go,
    Boy was I amazed? )

    As for the other fleet marks & merits I build up I try and sort them out as you say?

    In a way I am rich,

    I have now over 900.000 EC build up!

    I did spend allot of them over time on buying things they could buy?

    But it is as I said,

    The real important stuff to own is zen or dilithium ore and lots of it?

    Because they are the two that really are the important buying units you need to get anything useful like deck crew or outfit changes or weapons or anything really in the game?

    Sadly they are the hardest to get in big amounts unless you use real life money to pay for zen?

    You could buy Contraband on the Exchange and turn it in as a Duty Officer mission (5 Contraband, mission cooldown is 4 hours).

    That will turn EC into DL (at a horrific exchange rate)

    That's the only method I know for converting a in-game currency to a shop currency.

    As others have stated, GPL is a "fun" currency, primarily for the disco bombs *ahem* balls, trophys, and holo-emitters to change your look for limited amounts of time...

    Now, in my experiences, there is a way to "convert" GPL into EC. Through the DOff system (coincidentally the only other use of GPL... :P )

    Before you cheer, this is highly "inefficient", in that it's slow...

    Be on the lookout for two mission types: Buy "commodity" for GPL, and Sell "commodity" for EC. There's your converter... These two mission types will show up under the "Trade" heading in your DOffing window (so scroll down). Sadly, you won't get hundreds of commodities per buy, and you might get a couple thousand EC when you crit a sell mission. As a side note, you also get a token amount of Dil for your troubles, I want to say 150 on a critical.

    If you haven't DOffed much before, keep in mind that every sector block has a different mission list, and a lot of the "space zones" do too (for example, Sirius block has one set of missions, Sol space a second, Vulcan space a third, Andorian space a fourth, Delta Volanis cluster a 5th, Risa a 6th, ESD 7, Vulcan ground 8, Academy 9, Andor ground 10 etc. Repeat for each sector block and all it's assosciated "zones".) There is also a Ferengi Trader NPC with nothing but Trade missions (on a different list than the zones) on DS9 and in the Tuffli freighter...
    Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

    Actually, I stumbled onto a mission where GPL has a purpose. It's one that involves the Breen patrol in Deferi space. You give them 1000 GPL in exchange for their Deferi prisoners, and if I'm not mistaken, I think a reward for the mission is dilithium. So, this looks like it could be a good way (though slow, since the mission is a daily with a 20 hour cooldown) to exchange GPL for dilithium.

    It has a number of uses, you just have to want to fool with the duty officer missions for it. You can do trade missions with gpl for any number of 'playing card' items like contraband or the ones used in rep & starbase projects. This also nets you some trader DO experience, even if you do nothing but a 3 way trade (gpl to item to gpl again...) you get experience for it. It also is used for dabo DO mission, and several others. Seems like it is used to buy prisoners (why??? My brig fills faster than I can empty it!!!) and similar "black market" missions such as buying the "illegal" "drugs" that can be studied (incense, leave, cheeze, etc).

    Last I checked you can turn GPL into EC. Buy buying the Holoemitters, and then selling them on the exchange.
