I agree with you guys that the game is more important. But still, web sites are well understood. You don't really have an excuse for not being able to keep more than the header up under high traffic, scaling down whatever dynamic content you have to in order to keep most of it up.
This had already become a patch tradition, but now it looks like it'll be a weekend tradition, too.
We've had bugs since beta. These are bugs we hoped PWE would fix but didn't.
So they added content and whatnot -- each unfixed bug gives rise to a new one. And in all, only about 2% get fixed.
If that's how PWE runs its games, do you really think the website would look any different?
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
They've changed forums a couple times. I think it's just the contract with the provider and all that. And when PWE bought the game, it made sense to move the forum onto one of their servers. They technically didn't have to, since they bought Cryptic lock, stock and barrel.
But no, I don't think it's all that different. The technical skill may be, yes. But the mentality of the company and the methods they use to run things...it will be apparent in all aspects of their online presence. Well-run companies have a much more streamlines appearance, both online and in real life. This one is only doing the bare minimum to keep everything functioning.
It's like placing a little tiny Band-Aid on a big gushing artery. There is no preventative maintenance or regular patches or anything of that nature. Cryptic used to have regular maintenance hours where we could stay in game if we were already logged in. Not so anymore. Think about that.

I Left things were good with the game ( Left for other reasons)
I come back and it seems very little dev response nowadays, no events like there were then when all the cryptic staff would be playing alongside you. They would actually listen and take note of what the players wanted. try their best to improve on game play, ask for ideas, and seemed a genuinely better company .
Now its all about the most money out of the least investment, Cannot even fork out for decent webhosting.
Seems to be coming a popular thing not just for PWE. Money sinks not games
The website issues are most likely known and are being remedied as fast as possible. Which it does look like they're starting to respond again
I'll leave this open for a bit more to see if any more reports come through but for now it should be resolved
Yes, I'm that Askray@Batbayer in game. Yes, I still play. No, I don't care. Former Community Moderator, Former SSR DJ, Now Full time father to two kids, Husband, Retail Worker. Tiktok: @Askray Facebook: Askray113
Same, I'm still in game. Most likely it's a regional outage than server troubles.
Go to the server forum and do a traceart report, that helps them find what the problem is.
The game was fine, but even I was having issues with the actual main website (not the forums).
Since it's been a few and it's responding properly I'm going to go ahead and close this thread .

It's funny that the forums survive, though. Suggests they're fully outsourced from someone who knows what they're doing.
