If I were to guess I'd say it's an attack like from Beams or cannons as opposed to something like a Shockwave that is undirected and just hits a whole area.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Thanks for the info. I was afraid it only meant damage using that engineering skill that's called Directed-something-something. But if it'll be all regular beam weapon attacks that makes it an awesome passive to have.
Overall in PVE how much % of total damage you think is this type ?
50%, 75%, 25% ?
A rough figure would be good enough
Thanks
Dunno about a hard number, but the vast majority of your overall PvE damage comes from beams/cannons unless you're a dedicated Sci/torp boat. Most of the high-DPS builds posted on the forums either eschew kinetic damage altogether or have one forward torpedo for spiking down unshielded targets.

Actually, that is exactly what Directed Energy Modulation (aka DEM) does: it modulates all your Directed Energy Attacks.
I'd say, all energy weapon attacks that require a target (= the 'directed' part) are Directed Energy Attacks (doesn't have to be a single target, mind you: CSV, CRF, BFAW, these are still all Directed Energy Attacks).
1. Lock on target.
2. Press trigger/fire button.
3. Wait.
4. Respond to hail from phasers. "Where was I suppose to go again?" "That warbird." "Okay."
5. Wait.
6. Respond to hail from phasers. "Did you want me to go to the Klingon warbird or the Romulan warbird?" "Romulan." "Okay."
7. Wait.
8. Respond to hail from phasers. "Did you want me to go to the top or the primary hull of the warbird or the wings?" "The primary hull!" "Okay."
9. Wait.
10. Respond to hail from phasers. "Did you want me to hit the bridge or engineering?" "I don't care, just hit the ship somewhere!" "Okay. Bye."
And that's why energy has to move around phaser strips before it's fired.

This pretty much is what it is.
Or mines. Or many BO abilities.
All hands! Prepare the popcorn and tinfoil hats!
Would it apply to ship special abilities, like the Vesta's focused phaser beam blast?
We are PWE. Your forums and game accounts will be added to our own. Your community will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.
There's one for both. I'm not sure how it'd stack or behave along side DEM though.

Or that's what I've seen, anyway.
Yup, god forbid they would give any extra power to torpedos.
