quick-equip is a bust, please remove immediately.

All it does is get in the way. When I want to remove something, I just double click it. This quick-equip thing just makes it more difficult. I don't want to replace an item, I want to remove all my items and change ships. Now instead of being able to simply do that, I have to drag and drop or right click and select unequip. At the very least make it optional whether or not we wish to use it.

The double click still works, it's just the box is too close so you accidentally click an icon from time to time. If they just move then quick equip box over a bit it should be fine.

EDIT - just realised you can move the box yourself. bring it up and first, move it then double click away.

I think a more detailed blog or even vid might help. I'm frustrated by it, but I think its just because I haven't fooled around with it enough. Even like a 5 min tutorial vid on youtube by one of the devs would help a lot just to show some of the finer points.

Why not switch ships first then use the quick equip on the new ship as it was intended to be used. In the end, it will save you time.

It's a new feature and you'll get used to it, its kinda useful if I dont want to looking in my full inventory to find something that is lost among batteries and other stuff.

Just play with it and it'll be gravy.

I don't use it at all, I would like the option to turn it off and not have that window appear automatically every time I click an item to unequip it. I'm a creature of habit and don't like change when it comes to UI, it just doesn't feel right.

I also find it frustrating, but I think it's offset by the fact that I can leave certain things (Like the Kits, for instance) in the Bank - allowing me more carrying space for all that loot.

Yes, it's annoying - but in my eyes the annoyance is outweighed by the usefulness, stupid as that sounds.

Nope, Disagree, I often like to switch between my various Fleet ground weapons, And this new quick equip automatically swaps the weapons from me and my BOFFs without me having to open up my inventory and manually drag items between multiple trays,

Before i would have to put my weapon in the inventory, then find the BOFF weapon, drag that to the inventory, then to my inventory, then go back to the inventory to give the original weapon to the Officer whom i'm trading with

Being able to access all the items from inventory and those already equipped on officers in one screen is great

In short its a massive time saver, and makes it far simpler to access weapons and armor on the fly

It's annoying because it lists everything on every ship or boff. What they need is a way to allow us to narrow down the list, exclude, or highlight what we want to quick equip.

HOW DARE YOU spew these pathetic lies?! I've never removed equip from my ship by double clicking, therefore this feature does not get in my way. I hereby declare that the new system is FINE.

I will say the ability to switch ships is awesome...as a free player I'm able to spread space sets and devices throughout my personal ships. Also great for switching between my different builds without running around. No complaints there.

That being said; I've taken some days off to play this game bc of the new release and I've spent most of my time wondering why I bother because the damn game has been down for the majority of the past 3 days!!

This "feature" SERIOUSLY needs a 'disable' option.

For me (and this is only my opinion, hence the 'option' suggestion) this only gets in my way.

I understand some people like it. There are also those who don't.

Please implement a god-dang'd 'disable quick equip' option in the options menu. Forcing stuff like this on people who find it cumbersome is detracting from QOL.

Yep, I vote for the having a disable feature as opposed to removing it for everybody. If folks like it, bully for them - have at it. For me...it's just freaking annoying on several levels.

I thought quick equip was supposed to list everything you have for a particular slot even if that item is in your bank? It seems to be random for me as to whether I can equip items in my bank or not. What I mean is say I need an EV suit: I have one in my bank, If my character is on ESD, I can quick equip the suit to my character. If I am not on ESD, then I can't see the items that are in my bank. Also, when you quick equip something that is equipped somewhere else, say on a boff or another ship, then you quick equip the item that you had on originally, the other quick equip item goes into your inventory and not back to where it was in the first place.

It actually depends on your location relative to a bank at the time:

And sign me up for the "disable" option as well. Nothin' but a pain in the buttocks to me.

I haven't had any problems with the quick equip system.. but I imagine that when they finish the 'loadouts' feature this will be less of an issue for those bothered by it.

Agreed, a disable would be awesome. It will not come, but it would be great.

I don't use it. To find my items in my inventory I always used a special trick. It involve sorting your inventory, and not put the items you want randomly in it.

Anyway, I'm glad some people like it.

To paraphrase something someone said on another game once:

This game could dispense twenty dollar bills, and some people would complain that the bills weren't sequentially numbered.

It could also hand out blank pages with "$20" scribbled on them in crayon and some people at the other end of the spectrum would be in stores trying to spend them, insisting that they were 20 dollar bills.

The issue with it getting in the way of removing items can be easily fixed. Cryptic could:

    1. Put the first menu option as <empty>, which will move whatever is in that slot into your inventory.

    2. Make it so that ctrl+click (or some other combination) moves whatever is in that slot into your inventory.

    3. Make it so that double click removes an item and ctrl+click brings up the quick-equip list (possibly more sensible).

In the meantime, the feature is a small inconvenience in exchange for a significant convenience. I like it.

Dear Devs, pls consider the addition of a "disable quick equip" option. There are those of us that don't use it and don't care for it popping up all the time when we manage inventory.

    Thank you

Except these aren't 20$ bills and we just don't have to care for them being shoved in everyone's mouth by default.
Allow us the choice? ... will ya pal?

I don't see why it's so unreasonable to simply have it as an option. That way everyone can simply choose whether they want it or not, and WHEN they want it or not.

The new feature doesn't bother me, since I don't use it. As far as I'm concerned it's just a gimmick.

And as for the annoying pop up that appears every time you go to change something? It's as simple as clicking on the little "x" in that box to close that window, and go about it the old fashioned way.

A disable feature would be nice. But it will never happen. So, just work around it.

When testing this feature in Trimble, I recommended that they use a two command feature to activate it. For example, using Alt+left click, or something like that. I like to double click to remove things from my inventory.

I don't think that it should be removed, because when I want to quick equip things, it will come in handy.

I do believer that they should also make the things that you swap from your quick equip list, there should be a 10 space quick inventory bank that puts things into it, if they are removed from the ship you are using at that time, and cannot be equipped on another ship.

An example of why this would be needed, if you are equipping an escort, and it has dual heavy cannons, and you decide for some reason to use beams, you cannot equip the dual heavies onto a science ship. (For the most part). So, it will make sense that they would need to go somewhere. It would be a good idea to have a 10 space bank that is where your quick equip items go.

Also, please remember everyone that uses the quick equip feature, if you have a full inventory, and you use the feature, it will put some of your items into your over flow bank. If you are not careful, changing maps can cause you to loose things in over flow. Therefore, you may loose some important gear you have.

Does Cryptic even bother to take feedback on tribble testing into account anymore?
I've yet to see them deploy any minor patch, no matter how destructive, to tribble without the very same code and issues making it to holodeck. If not, what is the point of tribble anyway? For all the good that is actually doing the game at this point with nobody listening to FREE testers, you might as well deploy directly to holodeck - same net effect.

I also noticed this annoyance, and mentioned it in the tribble patch notes for the feature. It was also directly reported as a bug, to be ignored.
    >.< This should not even have made it to holodeck like this. It is very simply horrible UX design, that with minimal effort could have been fixed before holodeck release.

If the devs cannot be bothered to listen to user feedback on UX, they need a proper capable UX designer, as the current offering is pathetic. Each and every patch and update introduces more user-unfriendly UI 'features' wasting time that should be spent actually playing the game.
Dropdown menus no longer automatically close upon making a selection - they used to. Just another example of something requiring an extra click 'just to'. That is not even mentioning the horrible mess that is fleet starbase doff donations(it's called a "Check All" button. a basic requirement with a list as long as you present).

As a programmer myself, all I have to say is for shame, Cryptic. Stop being so bleeding lazy with the UI. There are websites with a better UX than this game. My code has better UX than this game. That is your first impression to any new player, and it is truly pathetic, to the point it looks like it was put together by a bunch of script kiddies with barely a clue of the language it is written in.

The devil is in the details.... you seem to be ignoring. Would you mind taking some pride in your work instead of shoving whatever buggy code you feel like into the game, please? It is truly sad when web development is ahead of you in UX.

Perhaps you have been lulled into a false sense of it being 'ok' by the subpar EOL forum software in use here?
The web has moved on. It is more user-friendly by far than this VB monstrosity. Catch up or hemorrhage players annoyed by your failure of a UI.

P.S. This is not a troll post. These are my true feelings as a professional programmer. Those of us who code for a living usually hold ourselves to a higher standard than hobbyists. You code like hobbyists. You code like Internet Brands, which I would encourage you to look at as your future if you continue down this road - hemorrhaging customers on a daily basis, and the latest version used by no one but the creators of it.

P.P.S. If you are offended by this post, please consider how much you offend the entire playerbase, much less me, with your completely unprofessional programming practices.

    And why not?
I dont see this being an incredibly unreasonable request. A simple option to have it turned off like we can turn off help pop-ups or an additional option in the control panel like there are maybe a hundred more already....

Ditto. It's a clunky UI feature and I don't like it. I'd rather have it as a right click option than always-on.
