So the anniversary event got me to relog in with my lifetime account and see how things have changed, which is a lot.
It has been a bit overwhelming with all sorts of new abilities, my skill tree being respecced, bridge officer jobs, etc. My current captain is a science officer which I would be continuing with.
I've combed through the wiki and it seems to be lacking in detail in parts. So what can anyone suggest is a good source of all things STO to get someone caught up that hasn't played in a few years?
Specifically the bridge officer jobs seem a bit confusing and respeccing my captains points.
As a Sci captain, you might want to get going on getting the free Dyson ship, still time to grind out the "Qmendations" to 'buy' it.
Bridge Officer jobs: I assume you mean the Duty Officer System (aka 'Doffing') is a minigame where you send you crew on missions to get XP, money, some commodites, more Doffs, and some Dil. As you look at them it's pretty self-explanitory. Fill the queue w/ appropriate skilled Doffs and send them on their way. *Note: common/white doffs can die on missions that have a critical fail. So watch the pie-chart of success.
I might suggest a slightly different approach -- hands on. If you have a free character slot, roll a new character and play it for a day or 2. The tutorials from level 1 to about 15 or so will introduce the game features one by one. It won't help you min/max but it will bring you up to speed and refresh your memory. After doing that, then try reading again and it should make more sense.

There's a skill builder at http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/
that's good for tweaking your skills before you commit to locking them down.
http://sto.gamepedia.com is the one most people use and while there are mistakes here and there its still the best source IMO.
