Fishing and Swimming on Risa

I know its not important however Im hanging out on risa right now walking the entire Event map and this the most exploring i think ive ever done in STO ever. Thats right two evers!! Its so sad that theres nothing to do here on risa between summer events. This Zone is beutiful, vast, and empty. I had never actually taken the time to walk this map and absorb the real detail while zipping around on my Jetpack(Floater) This is a very impressive understated area. Like I said i know its not important but I feel someday risa should be spiced up make it in to a real pleasure planet. Have things like pereci squares or how ever you spell it, fishing, quests to get items that let you set up parties on the beach. This place is awesome and maybe just whats needed for people that want a break from combat but still want something mindless. GIVE IT A PURPOSE!!! :)

    on another note one of my fleet members and i just tryed to play balloon soccer and it didnt work because of how the party popper works but aparently we arnt the first people to try something like that and ive heard people talk about how they play tribble soccer on their starbases. SO i would not say small things like sports mini games would go unused because they would kill time when people are bored.

    I agree Risa is amazing. There should be more to do here. Lowering the sea floor a bit so you can bathe instead of just having the water go to your waist would be a good start. the water in Starfleet Academy is deeper.

    I agree with a fishing minigame. That would really be something fun to do all year round (I don't like how Cryptic made fishing a Winter Event-only thing in NWO). Tie it in with a daily (making X # of fish to turn in for a choice of marks box or dilithium or something) and you've got a recipe for a fun minigame.

    Isn't fishing seen as being barbaric in Star Treks time? I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't do that unless it was on the holo deck and nothing got hurt.

    It is. They think it's illogical to kill animals while you can just replicate the food, and needlessly cruel.

    Klingons would probably prefer hunting over fishing. I can't imagine a Klingon waiting several hours over a pond for a fish to come. He would just toss a grenade in the lake, or take a bat'leth and jump in.
    Romulan might be interested in fishing, but they would probably think it's useless, as they can replicate the food.

    Finally, I've never found fishing interesting in any other game. It's boring in LOTRO. It's boring in Rift. If I wanted to fish in the first place, I'll go outside and fish. That's a lot more fun.
    But hey, anyone have fun the way he want to.

    They should have mini games like volleyball and boat racing, that will be interesting :) , but then u can play those games on apps phone.:D

    I can't see fishing being that much a hit ... however

    In the Risian Summer Event we had to collect Eggs for Birds etc. There's no reason why we can't collect Fish, maybe then to trade them in for marks, or to have them within a ready room fish tank or something.

    Id be ok with any attempts at making risa a place to visit year round. and ben sysco loved going fishing on the holodeck. catch, medical treatment, release the fish dude. but the point is so maybe not fishing but im pretty sure they play sports in the future and it might be intresting to see something along those lines.

    you could also throw in some races for the people who get items durring the summer event that give you something like a small bit of dilithium but are fun to play. Even throw up a rental place for the surf boards so 2 people who are board can go race each other. maybe some little activities that are always around so when the summer event roll around its added upon and youve got your self a big party going on.

    you could even make risa a year round place you go to just work on getting cool noncombat RP items. make em relating to the risan games or activites.

    you could even win stuff to decorate your captains quartes with. even in the very limited sence of decorating a ship star trek has now they could apply that to captains quarters.

    the point is Risa and the idea of Risa in the star trek gives the developers a really good chance to do intresting non-combat activites in the distant future and i think it should be thought about. for down the road of course. they have bigger fish to fry to be sure.
