I've requested such a build several times before, though nothing has obviously come of it. I would love to fly the above ship, and would input further funds to the game for it's release. I would ask that other people who'd like this idea come forth and make their desires known. If it's just me that craves this build, then I might as well give up any hope of seeing it and as such, this will be the last time I mention it.

The only difference between the current Fleet Star Cruiser is proposal is that the Boff Slots have been altered to mirror that of her sister ship; the fleet assault cruiser. The Assault Cruiser and Star Cruiser initially came about as sister ships, mirroring stats (so that players could choose between a tactical orientated cruiser, and a science orientated cruiser). The Assault Cruiser got beefed, but the Star Cruiser was left behind, and (from my point of view at least) there is no incentive for anyone to purchase the Fleet Star Cruiser when it offers nothing of vast difference except a ship skin, not for the asking price of what would be 2000zen.

Thus, as stated earlier, if you would engage this idea then please post and show your support. And Devs, please get this ship to us. All it requires is a simple Boff setup change, it would make the ship play with enough difference to warrant (what I'd believe to be) a good number of purchases.

It's interesting. I don't think I'd buy it in the present meta, but it's interesting.

No, but only because I already own the Odyssey Science Cruiser, which can be built with a very similar Boff layout (minus the Lt. Universal), has a higher hull rating than your Fleet version and higher shields at Mk X than either variant.

In addition to the 2/4/4 console layout, the only other difference would be that you sacrifice the +5 Weapon power for +10 Auxiliary. To round it off, the Sci Oddy has Sensor Analysis, comes with Work Bees and can be fitted with the full Oddy console set.

So I wouldn't buy it, but not because it's a bad idea, but because generally speaking, I personally already own a ship that's is close enough in stats to warrant spending Zen on a not-too-dissimilar ship.

That being said, if it looked nice... :P

Buy it? No. Simply due to the fact that I am not spending any of my money on this game. Don't really like the way it is developing.

But it is an interesting ship indeed. I'd probably fly one if I managed to get a free one.

    No!

There is no use for a Supportship without DPS capabilities, so i wont pay for it.

It will never happen since it's role is already filled by http://sto.gamepedia.com/Fleet_Support_Cruiser_Retrofit and is less desirable as posted. As stated abve, the Odyssey can be made to fill a similar role. You may like the skin of the Star Cruiser but your version is a money loss, we'll see the Jupiter and/or Typhoon in game before yours.

Problem a: Too close to the Sci oddy (that many players own the bundle of)
Problem b: Only a little amount of players like to play that support-tanky playstyle, everyone just wants MOAR DPS, MOAR DPS and ... you know what? they want MOAR DPS!

Well I'll admit, I had hoped for more positive feedback here. :(

Well, if it was a Fleet Ship (it already is, but if it was modified) you wouldn't necessarily need to spend any money, just purchase 4x Fleet Modules from the exchange. :)

Odyssey players would disagree with you.

I also get that similar builds can be worked through the Support Cruiser and Odyssey Cruiser, but the latter is a big hulk, and the former is an ancient design.

I could live without the C-Store proposal on the Star Cruiser, all I'd ask from Cryptic is that they alternate an existing Lt.Cmd Engineer with a Lieutenant Science. They're not losing any money by it (I honestly can't see such a change being that difficult to code either) and atop that, they'd likely get more purchases out of the design.

After the Anniversary Work Detail, I'm not buying anything period.

But even were that not the case, nothing about this ship would compel me to purchase it. It "just ain't all that." -shrug-

I would happily accept this vessel with a 3/4/3 layout. I'd just want the ship to be able to dish out a little more punishment in the name of Science.

Wouldn't be so bad if the Fleet Star Cruiser was updated to share Boff Slots of the Mirror Universe Heavy Cruiser Retrofit. At the moment, the Star Cruiser appears to be a design gone to waste.

Sadly, that does seem par for the course for Cryptic. The Star Cruiser is effectively going down the same route as the original Galaxy-R, being totally supplanted by other designs.

Whilst it may be close, it's not identical. Check through the other ships, there are many that come close to each other, yet they're not identical. They stand alone. This would be no exception. :)

Probably not, it has been said but because there are already several ships that are pretty similar to that build, the Oddy and the Support Cruiser can already do something similar.

But I also don't particularly care much for Fed Cruisers, and I'd rather see a good new Science ship from them instead of another Cruiser.

It's intrustin' ... But as has been mentioned ... STO is becoming a "My DPS'zz is bigger 'n' your DPS'zz"

So although many (including a dedicated and unrepentant Cruiser Fanboi like me) Would like to see this update/addition to the Star Cruiser, sadly it wouldn't sell to the masses ...

And yes, I am one of the ones who got the Oddy three pack ...

Perhaps if you revised your concept into a similar pack it might sell better? ... A version to keep each class happy(ish) seems to be a winning combination for PWE. (Although I don't think anything could make some Sci Captains happy except a total revamp and update to the apparently woeful state of Sci powers in STO.)

    ...

Oh, almost forgot ... MUST HAVE MOAR DPS'ZZZ NOW !!!
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh

All true, yet how many ships do we already have that can pretty much do the job of the other?

The Defiant, Dominion Bug and Kumari are all very similar ships. They work.

I'm not saying people wouldn't like to see another science ship, but what I'm asking for here isn't a science ship, it's a cruiser with a bit more of a scientific punch. ;)
