How do I get expertise now?

azniadeetazniadeet Member Posts: 1,871 Arc User
Now that the mirror event is gone, I've got toons that need expertise for the Rep and starbase grind. How can I get it now? With the old mirror event, I could get over 150,000 exp in an hour... now I have no idea where to get it. Anyone have any advice?

Besides replaying missions the only other good way I can think of is hunting down Borg Red Alerts.

Nothing can provide the same exp as mirror, but some give a few thousand. Anything that has a lot of targets that die easily will rack them up--feds have Starbase24, and the various Fleet Actions will do it too but they dont last very long. The XP from episode replays will be converted to EXP if you're already level 50, so somthing like Spin the Wheel gets you a couple of thousand. Some of the adventure zone missions pay pretty well, things like Defera hard missions will give you a few thousand. System patrol missions can pay a little for a quick bit of work, but again those are Fed-only missions. Nothing gets you 200k per hour like Mirror

I've been trying to level up my Omega reputation and I've found I get about four to five thousand expertise from doing ISE. I sometimes pick up the mission "Big Dig" (especially if there's a daily for it, kill two birds with one stone) and get about four or five thousand for that too (may be more, I can't quite remember). It takes a lot longer for that one to start, but it's my favorite PvE queue, so I don't mind. I also do "Spin the Wheel" and "Cold Comfort" as they're quick, easy, and give decent expertise. You may want to look into getting a consultant DOFF (at least I think it's consultant). There's an expertise boost version that gives you x% more expertise depending on the rarity. It's not much, but every bit helps. You can always switch it in when you go expertise hunting and then remove it when you're not.

Got the same issue. :( Down to 50k on one toon who is doing rep. They need to bring mirror event back ASAP!

You guys really don't accumulate that much from regular play like STFs and stuff? I still have 8.5 million on my main. I guess that was all gained pre fleet stuff though. I think I remember it being 11 million. hmmm....

My main has a few million... has had a few million since before the rep/fleet grind began.

It's not a problem for her. It's a huge problem for younger toons.

It's annoying to be sure. Having to grind for reputation marks as well as doing old content for expertise, they really need to make all of the rep grinds like the dyson one and remove the expertise requirements. Purely in the interest of not having to redo missions I've played through a hundreds times already.

I just go shoot at things.

Keeps my characters well supplied for Rep, Fleet projects and anything else that comes up. Seriously, I've never once even come close to running low on expertise.

DOFFing helps. Just spam whatever missions you can grab when you first log in if you don't care about the DOFF xp.

Dyson space has some really good DOFF missions as well, good amounts of Expertise from em.

I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Play the game. Relying on a single cheat for expertise was never going to be the smart thing to do.

I've only every tried to level a character using the mirror invasions once. It took longer than just playing through the episodes, and was incredibly boring and grindy.

Now I just play through the missions, repeating the ones that give good gear a few times to equip my ships cheaply until I hit 50.

Most of us with old toons that have 8mil and other crazy high numbers... its because way back when around f2p launch they converted all our PvE/PvP marks to expertise. I have toon's that will never run out.

Some good things though as others have said a few of the replays... for klingons hanging out in kerrat for a bit doing the klink extra little missions. The daily Foundry mission can rack up a nice little bonus once a day or so.

I used to run Defera Invasion a lot for XP and Fleet Marks.

Well and good and all, but the problem remains for new toons who might be grinding rep. The problem lies in the fact that every rep except for Dyson requires a ton of Expertise, not to mention how much it takes to get the gear. If the other three reps were converted over to the same system as Dyson rep, I would have no complaints.

On a side note, I swear that I heard that mirror incursion was going to become a daily, but I cannot give a source. It might have just been wishful thinking.

Oh, and DOFF'ing Dyson Sphere yields a darn good amount of Exp.
