I think of Lobes... which makes me think of ears... which makes me think of Ferengi...

I've always wondered why the Ferengi run the Lobi store. The Ferengi are all about profit, but clearly no-one told them that Lobi Crystals are worthless.
One of Cryptic's little jokes - take something canonically recognised as worthless and use it as a currency for some of the most sought-after ships and items.
who do you think sells all those master keys? most likely the lobi consortium since they only work with the lobi consortium issued lockboxes, not to mention said lockboxes are the only source of lobi. so they are making buttloads of money if you think of it that way.

I will never pay that much of the small bit of ZEN that I buy once in a blue moon on a random pack that usually gives people useless duty officers with a few Lobi Crystals and an extremely small chance of getting something useful.
Please get rid of the Lobi Store... Just add the items to the lockbox loot list. Then I might consider spending ZEN on them.
I might even add that to the list of things that are making me lean towards committing to a Lifetime Subsciption.
No, get rid of Lobi and lockboxes. Move all of those items to the Zen store.

I love lockboxes for keeping this a free game for me. I can play what I want, how I want, without worrying about money.
I don't open lockboxes, due to my refusal of participating in gambling.
But then, I don't need the *super shiny stuff inside* for the prize they are worht.
The best I got was a Jem HEC, for 30 mill from a friend. He opened the box, not me. Had he not opened it, my KDF would be flying her B'rel. Now she flies both. Didn't need it, but the opportunity was well worth it.

Even better, but I don't think this will EVER happen. Cryptic needs to get their lockbox money somehow, but as long as it's not coming from me, I'll be fine.
If there was nothing inside lockboxes EXCEPT the new, unique, rare items that can only be obtained through opening them, then I would trade in my dilithium much more often to get master keys. However, all I get when I do this every once in a while is a random type of Duty Officer pack that gives me nothing useful that I end up dismissing, completely wasting all my dilithium and potention ZEN build up.

First, it allows players who don't have, or don't want to spend, real cash, to buy shiny's of the Exchange ...
Second ... AS IF !!! ... Cryptic (or more likely/accurately PWE) would rather lose a limb, than give up their most valuable cash cow ...
Also there is a lot of value in Lockbox items, even the DoFF packs, as you can either sell them for EC and buy something else, or use them to generate Dil and EC from missions, so they aren't "useless" ...
And you can get a nice drop every once in a while ...
I have a Fed Eng toon, that is running all Voth AP Weapons on her T5 Cruiser, with all Voth AP Sniper Rifles for herself and her BoFF's ... All received through opening Lockboxes, all without spending a single cent in real cash, just EC earned in game from other toons and from selling the Lockbox Items I don't use, and buying keys from the exchange ...
I also have a Fed Tac who received a Voth Bastion FDC when he was lvl 4, and needless to say 75000000 EC's has set him up pretty well for his whole career.
