I'd like to use the plasmonic leech, but when I looked at my skillset, I had no skill points at all invested in flow capacitators (improves shield and energy drain).
I also can use only one of those flow capacitator consoles to boost my leech. SO is it even worth having it or do I need to have the flow cap skillset on max and several flow capacitator consoles for the leech to work well?
Thanks for all the help.
Plasmonic Leech is good in just about any situation. Unless you have to sacrifice something that brings the overall integrity of your build down, if you've got a free console slot you should definetly use it.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
You know those threads where someone asks "which equipment is best" and the answer was "depends"?
Well those threads weren't about the plasmonic leech. It is the BEST console and the BEST item in the entire game. Only the red matter capacitor comes close in utterly outclassing anything else you could put in it's relevant slot as far as items in the game is concerned. But the Leech wins because it's giving you 60+ power pretty much ALL the time. Even with 6 points in flow capacitors it will give you about 15 power in ALL systems. 60 more power to play with is NOT trivial, to the point where it compensates and then some for the one disadvantage of romulan ships. With that said, it's best if you can manage 9 points in flow capacitors. It's only a tier 1 talent so each point only costs 1000xp. If you have to blow the 500 zen to respec, do it. It's just that incredible. You don't need flow capacitor consoles to make it worth it, just 6-9 points in your skill tree.
It's even more powerful in PVP due to the fact that it's actually "taking" power away from your target and giving it to you.
Through the exchange or from a lock box, i forget which one.

To be honest, it is a good console, especially for anyone doing PVP. However, if you have a good skill build, it is not needed.
I have 3 Romulans. 2 are Engineers, and 1 is a Tactical. Only one of them has the Plasmonic Leech, but all of my Rommies can keep up in all the endgame stuff.
If you have a problem with survivability, then the extra power to engines, shields, or aux (to increase the effectiveness of some skills) can help you stay alive. On all characters I don't have it on, I put a cheap Engineering console on that increases all energy damage, and kinetic damage resistance by about 20+% to make up for not having it.
If the prices on the exchange were back below 1mil EC, then they will be worth the cost. Otherwise, just set up a good build, and use the millions of EC you save for other things.
That is my opinion from my experience with, and without it. The more experienced you get in the endgame content, the less you will need things like that. But, in PVP, it makes a big difference.

If you use beams and understand how to dps respectable dps, plasleech is a must
If your a fed/kdf cannon user with free console slots, plasleech is useful
If your a torp boat, plasleech is fluff.
That is how it is, any other way of looking at it is wrong
