So many new ships questions for all three captian types!

Its probably been a year to a year and a half since I played this game. Seems like a bunch of things have changed.

So originally I was a baddie I had a group of friends playing and most picked the tac officer as their captains. I thought well to be effective we may need another captain type so I picked up an engineer. Flew every ship type just to really try them out, an engineer in a Vulcan D'kyr? Yea that pro was me.

So to coming back to the game a lot of new ships have been added and I was wondering what was good for each individual captain?

When I ended playing my engineer was flying a Defiant and my Kling engi toon was rolling with a Kar'fi. I liked both these ships along with the Galaxy X and the MVAE. While I may not have been the highest DPM for STFs.

While I'm sure I can find decent builds for each individual ship recommended I would like to know which ships are decent.

If I need to buy a couple C-store ships I'm fine with that. I currently don't have access to fleet ships but I will find a decent fleet once I get settled back in.

I mainly play PvE but would like todo PvP if that means I need two different ships for each captain let me know.

Thank you very much for any sort of help!

I've always found that best way for me to get back into an MMO, after a break, was to roll a new character. Whether that toon becomes a new "main" or not, it's a chance to go through all the changes at the learning curve pace provided by the leveling experience.

In STO, each promotion and accompanying new ship is a chance to try out a different ship class, get a feel for it, and see if it's a fit for you. Starfleet Captains have had that opportunity to try on every ship type in the game on the journey from Ensign to Admiral since launch. Klingons have it now, with the addition of a full PvE experience for that faction. Romulans actually have it pushed onto them, as they inevitably command fast attack ships and slow, tanky beam boats on their way to 50.

I'd suggest that you give a new character a shot. There's a lot that's new to see and do even at low levels, and it's a good way to experiment with different ship types and builds for free.

If you haven't played the game in so long, you will be well aware that there have been a lot of new ships added since then.

There is a link below my sig where you can download the 3 factions ship charts which might be of help to you.

They are up to date (except for the ships that were added with today's season 8.5 update).

    Hope they help. :)

Thanks for the link I will check that out and make a couple builds then report with what I have made. The Kumari, Mobius temporal, Avenger, and JHEC all look very pleasing though.
