It seems as if some of the spire ground kits suffer from a similar fate than romulan embassy boffs where you're better of buying the cheaper blue version than the purple one.
Take the operative set for example. The only difference between MkXI and MkXII is a slight chance in the smoke grenade. Is that worth an additional 30k FC and and 6k dill???
Am I right about this? If so I really wish Cryptic would put a little more thought into some things....

Hey that's a uber high quality smoke grenade you are getting there. (sarcasm included at no additional charge) :P

It's actually a delayed action one-hit-knock-out. You die 100 minutes later after inhaling the smoke. Off course this timer is reset every time you take a step.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Its the way it goes, marginal upgrade for high cost. Far worse is the Borg space set, mk 12 costs 14k dil + 5 BNP more per item than mk 11 and has a benefit so small you'd never notice it; the T5 elite bird of pray pets are 40K dil but are similar to the pre-nerfed advanced ones, thats 80k just to restore the firepower for a Vo'Quv capt. Right now it costs about 63.5K dil to buy 500 zen. Find the sweet spot for what you want and buy some goodies or kick into fleet.
It's not a rip off. Like a lot of things, the stats are there for players to consider. You don't have to buy the Mk XII version if you don't feel the benefits are worthwhile. I still use a lot of Mk XI Dilithium Mine consoles for that reason.

Agreed. I bought a MK XI [Turn] fleet neutronium; the worst offender as the mk xii only gives you 2.5% more protection and 2.5% more turn rate, which the latter you will not notice AT ALL due to game and turn mechanics.
Depends on the kit, for a smoke grenade upgrade maybe, but quantum mortars 2 instead of 1 that is not a rip off. Same goes for Tachyon Harmonic 1 or 2 on the physicist kit. Besides as meimeitoo said, don't like it (or can't afford it) don't buy it.
its swings and roundabouts, some mark XII stuff is very good, however often the MKXI stuff is only marginaly worse than XII and significantly cheeper, when it comes to items like the dyson rep stuff, u get the option of MKXII or MKXII so your choice is made for your, however on the whole I find MKXI is perfectly fine.

The intresting part about the physicist kit is more that even the mkXII spire version has a weaker tachyon harmonic then the MK X Borg Medical Analyzer Kit, which sadly is not available as drop anymore. At least not as far as i know.

good to know that .. I need to buy that cap in crease for ec .. since I no longer pay to play
I've been on "STO" since May of 2010. I wish you would get your fact straight. Do I really need to take a picture of my captains log from in-game to get that corrected?

for PvE... no...

And it's only a rip-off when there was no way for you to compare stats, and were forced to buy it. Neither is true. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
