So we are about to get a new romulan ship (one of the new science destroyers) that will likely be able to equip warbird consoles.

Has anyone read the set bonuses for the new ship gear?

Well let me put it to you this way, one of the set bonuses is a hull repair reactive based on the damage dealt.

Now combine with DPS and the Valdore console.

Ill just leave this here. Once again synergies are going to OP something right to the moon.

    Its a science ship, if it gets caught by a vape, its a bad captain or lack of reaction for whatever reason. No competent sci gets vaped, or they sure as hell shouldnt. High aux + passive detection + highest shields in the game = even the best vapers rarely get the one volley kill, if they even get the chance to launch it.

    Its a science ship, if it gets caught by a vape, its a bad captain or lack of reaction for whatever reason. No competent sci gets vaped, or they sure as hell shouldnt. High aux + passive detection + highest shields in the game

    In fairness, most Vapers these days shouldn't be bothering with shields, they should be dealing in mass bleedthrough, that's a stat science ships in general are weak in, this one is among the worse ones for it :(

    Now I like to think I'm a decent science pilot and I can hold off 2 competent KDF Vapers with my fleet Nova but if a good Rommie one has at me I go poof, regardless of what I try to do about it.

    Elachi or doff proc vapers are not the norm, and I can count on one hand the number of them that any of my ships actually worry about, much less my scis.

    Vapes usually happen because someone isnt expecting or prepared for it, or a very lucky hit crit.

    Thats not to say ive never been popped, but i get popped far less than most players do. Im used to the attempts. O_o

    This is going to become exponentially easier with the above described setup while shooting at something.

    I think you are limiting your vision a bit.

    The new set bonus you are talking about is on a deflector, engine, shield, and singularity core set. It isn't locked to the new ship.

    So we can now have ALL warbirds with a valdore console this 3-piece bonus, and fleet shields.

    Yeah I lol'd at it when I saw the set bonus but look on the bright side, at least all factions can run the set that grants hull heal on hit.

    Whether it is as good as the Borg 2 piece though is anyone's guess or have we all forgotten how powerful that 2 piece set has been?

    There's two sets...

    There's the Solanae set (non-ship specific, just like Dyson, Nukara, Omega, New Rom, etc stuff).

    There's the DSD sets...

    Which set are folks talking about?

    Forgive my lack of caffeine if this has been made clear...or don't forgive it...heh, I'm still off to go get some caffeine. :D

    I was talking about the Solanae set. They haven't released any information on the DSD set other than the fact the secondary deflector will be included as part of the set and would be needed if you want the 4-piece bonus.

    The shield healing console alone has been know to let the Valdore tank things like the borg gateways alone with little effort. Back when hey did far more damage too.

    The more damage you do, the less you need to heal.

    The less you need to heal, the more damage you survive to do.

    Doesn't that void trading tactical bridge slots for science or engineering?

    You hardly need the Valdore's console to tank a gate. You can do that now with XII gear, and A2B set-up.

    And you're forgetting this is the age of of people who SOLO ISE, and SOLO sides in KASE.

    We can certainly argue the differences between PvE and PvP dps, or how these players attain it, or why shooting an immobile target that doesn't fire back raises your overall dps.... yadda yadda yadda....

    Abilities and power creep are a fact of life for any game. Given that we can now do 5X the damage we could generate 2 years ago, clearly the defensive abilities must develop to keep the game in check.
