(or at least let me vendor them for 0 credits in the vendor screen with the rest of my junk)
It's so tiring having to right click, mouse over to discard, click again and then one more time to tell the computer I mean it every time one of these things drops. Which is CONSTANTLY. I'm up to my armpits in these damn boxes and I really do have no use. I don't buy scratch cards at the gas stations and I don't blow my money with keys that cost millions, so they really are a drag. Kudos to you that stock pile them and take up precious space in your banks to sell them a few patches later for a few thousand credits, but that's beneath the majority of us with better sources of income.
I agree. I get sick of discarding those things, and I have absolutely no intention of ever buying keys. A simple toggle that makes it so I never have to see them again would make me positively GIDDY.
The whole point about them dropping is that having them in your inventory makes them an incentive to open them. Take that away, and people on the fringe of opening boxes will stop.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Too bad they don't have BOP keys randomly drop that allows you to open a lock box or two, maybe a really rare drop but it would help offset some of the headaches of having 50billion lockboxes in your inventory wasting space.

No, it really wouldn't. People would just buy less keys if you could get them in-game as a very rare drop.
If you don't want them, throw them away or sell them on the exchange.

Talk about dreaming, please mister pusher don't wave your temptations under my nose. Ya that'll work.
The last thing they would ever implement would be a means to easily defeat one of the biggest money sinks in this game.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
If they allowed this idea to be implemented you won't get other loot drops to replace the lock boxes you toggle off. They'll just code it so the lock box auto deletes and you get nothing instead of the lock box.
They won't let people exploit drops by blocking lock boxes to get more loot.
Obviously. Between an offer of being showered with boxes I'll never open and nothing, I'll take the nothing. Just please spare me having to stay on top of discarding them constantly.

So keep it that way as a default for the sheepies, but give players such as myself an option to disable these "amazing investments". Even if I bought the damn keys the boxes would outnumber them ten to one at least.
Make them sellable at vendor/replicator. It's a hassle deleting them atm.
Agreed, my second alternative listed in the first post. If I can't toggle them off, easier to just vendor them with a single click like the rest of the trash efficiently. They can be made to sell for 0 credits like the gear a new ship comes pre-equipped with.

Yeah, I'd settle for just a "reject" option for all loot (not just lockboxes) so that if you reject it, it goes away instead of continuing to just sit there on the game map, blocking your view. In my case, I'd use it on all the useless food items that drop for me.
Drop too often? Do you remember when these things first came out?
I remember Gold Lockboxes... Was fairly amusing to discover that the borg were firing lockboxes instead of torpedos at you as well.
As for the OP.. it's a necessary evil for this game. It's better than having to sit through a bandwidth-consuming commercial ad. I do dislike these promotional periods at the end of a lockbox's cycle though; they fill up my inventory faster than food items in ground combat - and multiply that issue even further.
To be constructive; it would be nice if a stackable 'choose your lockbox' item was dropped instead for these.. 'promotions'.
I'm not saying get rid of them altogether. I understand there are a lot of compulsive players with fat wallets that see it and thing they've hit the Nigerian prince megaload that can't wait to find out what's inside. I'm just asking for an option to toggle the drop off or to be able to vendor them faster. Not for everyone, they can keep getting showered by boxes by default. I just want an alternative. I'll never open one. Cryptic gains nothing by forcing them down my throat short of my annoyance in constantly clearing them with multiple clicks constantly.

Agreed. I like lockboxes. I've opened a few and found they aren't really worth the effort (even though I did get a Jem'hadar escort on me first try), but by their presence they subsidize all the other stuff I get to do, so I'm okay with them.
I don't mind discarding lockboxes now and then (or selling them on the exchange for a bit of EC) if it means I can go gallivanting all over the galaxy for free.
Unless a federal regulator steps in says no more gambling mechanics, this will not disappear, it will show up as loot that you will not be able to ignore even at the expense of looting entirely.
I'd be fine if they just make stacks higher than 20, it would makes for less stacks to delete, but they won't do that because they also want me to buy more inventory slots.

I really will NEVER understand why people complain about this LOL.
If you like opening lockboxes = no problems. Just open those you want and discard those you dont.
If you never want to open up lockboxes, just keep "loot all" on and when your inventory gets full just discard the lockboxes. Or you can sell them on the exchange since A LOT of players werent playing when certain LBs were dropping.
We get a FREE MMORPG that is absolutely AMAZING and is getting bigger and better with every update. Lockboxes are just part of the game you have to adjust to. Its LOOT. One day you might want to open them and unless you play wayyyyyyyyyy too much, you arent going to get a full stack of a certain LB type for at least a few play sessions. Just put the stack in your bank and forget its there. Or DISCARD. Thats it - simple.
COmplaining about LBs dropping in an awesome free mmorpg is like saying " i hate eating hamburgers because when i go to bk/mickeyds/wendys/etc they always wrap the burger in that paper. I hate having to throw that paper away." Umm, really??? Same difference. LOL

Ye.... there are far worse things that Cryptic could do, and they need to monetize somehow.
Let's say, for the sake of discussion, 2 of every 3 drops is a lockbox. In my experience, this is way high, so this is a worse case senario. Since these stack in groups of 20, you'll have ten other slots filled with common/green phasers/disruptors/shields/etc before you have 2 slots of lockboxes. How many clicks to get rid of the 10 other things? 1- Inventory, 2- Replicator 3- Recycle, 4- Scroll past stuff you keep, 5&6- Doubleclick 1st Item, 7- Ok to confirm, 8&9 Doubleclick 2nd Item... 32&33- Doubleclick 10th item, 34- Ok to confirm, 35&36- Esc twice to exit Replicator & Inventory windows. Lockbox removal clicks? 1- Inventory, 2- Rightclick Lockbox Stack, 3- Click Discard All, 4- Ok to confirm, 5- Esc or I to get out of the inventory window. Most of those are eliminated if you "do" them with the rest of the TRIBBLE you've accumulated, and you don't even have to fret over "Should I have kept that?!?"
Not to mention I've sold a stack of 20 lockboxes on the exchange for more than I'd have gotten for one silly "Common" quality phaser that takes up just as much room. 1st time it happened, I commented in zone chat that I didn't think they'd have sold at half the price I listed. The guy who bought them replied it was worth the EC for his time, he was opening 100 lb's in one swipe.

You do know you do not have to pick up the boxes when they drop just leave them there.
That will fix your issue of having to discard them.
Common sense people.
Also how is it a pain to trash them right click discard voila.
